Good 1st Device
After growing tired of sharing out iPads with the kids, we had Santa bring two Kurio Touch 4S to our house this year. The kids LOVE them! I recommend skipping the Kurio Store and downloading the Amazon Apps store because the selection is better, and support is seamless with your existing Amazon account. Also, these are what a local repairman called "disposable pads." By this he means that if you crack the glass, or have other major problems, the cost of repairs will exceeded the cost of buying a new unit. If your kids are good with their personal possessions, this is no problem. If they are careless, you may find yourself replacing these like I did for my son after only 1 month. Again, this isn't Kurio's fault. The price point is low enough that these still make sense, just not if your kids are violent! lol

I would have done better by just getting a tablet, but my child wanted a handheld...the password retrieval fiasco is an experience I would wish on no parent. Good luck if you get it. You might need a degree in IT

Poorly Engineered Device
Although it advertises as an Android device, you don't get access to the Play Store out of the box. Supposedly there was a system update that pushed the Play Store to the device, but it never worked for me. I was up until 4am Christmas Eve trying to get the device ready for my daughter on Christmas. What I ended up with was extreme disappointment. I would not recommend this device to anyone. What is sad to me is that these companies are always looking for a way to cut corners. How hard is it to make a 4" to 5" quality device for kids. I don't mind paying for quality, but don't charge me $70 for a device that costs you $10 to $15 to build or less. The casing is plastic and the device is very light. This resolution is very poor. All I was looking for was an Android device that was similar to the iPod, an Android mp3 player basically. That's it! I think it would be wise to build a device that around 4 to 5 inches for little kids that wants to carry something around that is not too bulky like a 7 inch tablet or higher. My daughters, ages 7 and 8, which both has 7 inch tablets, but sometimes they just want to carry a small device in a purse to listen to music and play games every once in a while. I'm not out to bash the company, just put out a better device.

Not worth the money.
Bought it for my 7 year old daughter. She likes it ok. I tried to plug it in overnight to charge it when the battery went dead. The next morning when my daughter went to play with it, it didn't charge. I messed with the cord a little bit and finally got it to start charging. My daughter would rather play with a kindle that I gave her that is 4 years old. My 2 year old son likes the Kurio and plays with it when I can get it to charge. Not the best purchase I made on Amazon.

Amazing! Really nice handheld gaming unit for children
Amazing! Really nice handheld gaming unit for children, it has a parent area where parents can set up the unit to desired settings for children, so that makes it safe. It's a powerful and very durable little unit about the size of a windows 925 smartphone. Bought this item for my grandchild, she simply loves it as it offers hours of entertainment.
