IT WORKED GREAT!
Purchased this for a girls youth camp (AHG) art activity and it worked great! Easy to use, didn't mess up their hands, quick to cook and cool, no smell or dye left on their hands. They had their necklaces done in under 25 minutes. I used this with a group of 7 girls 4-6th grade and one 3rd grader, and a teen taught the station. We had them break off 2 "SMALL" piece of different colors and mix them a bit. Then using a large needle we poked a hole through the center of the small ball. I used stretchy string for the necklace as the group seems to be into choker necklaces currently. Later I formed a small cross with the clay, which also turned out really nice. So glad we did this!

Where Did They Get the Name Sculpey? Google, anyone?
Well, it sounds funny, but it sure is pretty.I wanted to make my own beads because some I purchased for making jewelry lost their outer coating and turned white! And these were glass beads....I found Sculpey and ordered the 10 pack to see how it would work. The colors are beautiful and the clay holds its shape, mixes well for marbling and blends to form additional colors. To make your creations permanent, just bake them in your oven at low temperatures.Easy as this is, Sculpey's baking instructions (use glass, 15 minutes per 1/4 inch, etc.,) are a little too specific for my taste. As a beginner, I find it troublesome that some of the things I am baking may be thicker than others and therefore undercooked, or the thinner ones may burn if I try to compensate, so do I bake them separately?@!*&! or what?I notice old handers just seem to lower the temperature and cook everything 30 minutes. I'm not that brave yet.But so far, nothing has burned and nothing has turned back to raw clay so I must be doing something right. Or Sculpey is more cooperative than its makers know....I'm actually quite proud of some of my beads now, and I've been at if for less than a month. Sculpey can get you off to a good start too.

Perfect Set!
This sample pack is awesome. An amazing deal for the amount of clay you get. I love it! They were all nice and soft, no damage and shipped quickly. If you're just starting out in polymer clay, or even if you just want a basic color set, these are the way to go. The colors are basic colors, white, black, yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, green, brown and ecru/tan.Thus far sculpey III is my favorite brand of polymer clay. It conditions in seconds, but doesn't get gummy quickly like Fimo. They bake up nicely and don't lose any color whatsoever in the baking process.

Good stuff, but...
This clay is great! Some people were complaining that there were fingerprints. You can use any type of alcohol to fix that. It is very soft and easy to mold. You do need to bake it in order to harden. The only issue is that it is EXTREMELY brittle. Slightly touching the piece can cause it to break off. This clay is not good for something you want to be stable.

Sculpey - the perfect craft for children
Sculpey comes in many bright colors and hardens when baked. I bake mine in a toaster oven. Note that the colors darken slightly when baked, and you want to make sure not to bake for too long (follow the directions) otherwise it could burn. After it bakes, you can paint it with acrylic paint. There are several things you could make with it: miniature dollhouse food and furniture, beads for jewelry, clay figurines (use metal wire to strengthen your figures), or on top of metal thumbtacks for cute 3-D designs. Another popular craft is to cover a clean, empty food can with Sculpey to make it into a pencil holder. You can also bake it with a BIC pen or USB drive, but you should Google for instructions. A toothpick is the most handy tool to create detail; you can use the pointy ends to make holes, or use it like a rolling pin to smoothen parts of your clay.It lasts for a long time; I had some in my garage for 4 years that were slightly hard, but after kneading it in my hands, it because soft. The classic collection is the best because it features the primary colors, black and white, which are all the essential colors. You can knead two colors together to form a new color.Sculpey is a type of polymer clay. Note: if you buy polymer clay in a store, make sure it says oven-bakeable on the label. Other brands include Fimo and Premo, but Sculpey is the cheapest.

Awesome Medium!
Perfect for Girl Scouts! Our 7-8 yr old girls loved the brilliant colors and following my instructions for the "Little Sculptors" series books, we made bugs out of the clay. The girls got to choose their colors and for one meeting we only had time to make ladybugs but they loved them! I took them home and baked them and gave them to the girls the next meeting. They named their pets and had a great time! We will definitely we making more. I wouldn't recommend with any younger ages, however, because they are fragile after being baked. The antennae came off some even just from me moving them around. Granted, the girls are only budding sculptors, at best! I can see how artists love to work with this and use it to make jewelry and such. YouTube has some great tutorials! Fun to play with!

Great clay, but white is finicky
I love sculpey clay. Soft pliable, but not too much that it will hold every little indent. Works wonderfully. My only issue is the colors bleed onto my hands when kneading which isn't a problem until I try to work with white right after. If I know I'm going to be using white on a project I either work with it first, wear gloves or wash my hands before handling it.
