Really jolly good and easier to fit than other similar units.
I bought a couple of these (emergency type) to replace very similar units that failed in days because of a nearby fluorescent tube - which I replaced before fitting these just in case. As an aside, if you have fluorescent units in the same circuit and physically close in the circuit then it is a good idea to change those for LED units - a 5' LED strip light was cheaper than one of these, brighter than the one it replaced, and cheaper to run. Apparently the power surges as fluorescents turn on/off can knacker the LED drivers - you have been warned.Having bought these to replace very similar looking units I can make comparisons:The actual board holding the LEDs hinges down and is held up by a simple turn-button. Very easy and no screws to do up (and drop). This unit has the cable fixings attached to the back plate so once you have put the wires in, they don't have to move to install the gear tray unlike the units these replaced - 3 lots of 1.5mm T&E are not very flexible so this is a great advantage.Power is easily adjustable with the LEDs in the 'up' position - a simple slider. At 18w it was noticeably brighter that the 17w unit it replaced - and I needed to turn one down in in one location as it was just too bright. While quite a few makes of these units have 3 different shades of white, this one is easy to adjust with a simple slider again. I use the middle setting as a) It seems more natural to me, and b) because it uses all the LEDs (basically there are 2 colours of LED and the settings either select one set, the other, or both). The green LED that indicates the emergency battery is charging is brighter and more central, but not visible when the light is on.Visually these looks the same as the ones they replaced, but they are very slightly smaller in diameter and a bit shallower - but only really noticeable if you put them side by side. The LEDs are more centrally located than my old units, but the diffuser makes the light spread evenly enough, though perhaps a tiny bit less than the old ones. The screw fixing holes: 4 located very close to the central cable entry (a bit too close really) and 3 around the outside edge (too far out perhaps?) but using the outer ones prevent the unit moving or bowing when you screw on the outer cover.I've not had these in place long enough to test the battery life or life expectancy, but it does come with a decent length guarantee. Personally I would like the emergency light to be a bit brighter, but that would impact on how long it could stay on - always a compromise - but bright enough for most people in an emergency situation. All in all, a jolly good unit and I will be using these to replace any where old lights fail in both domestic and commercial settings (having swapped out any nearby fluorescent tubes).

Still working after two years
I light is really good. There are several different setting for brighter light or warmer light. It was easy to install and is still working after two years of use. It is used as a front porch light and is on all throught the night set on a 9 watt setting that gives off plenty of light. very cheap to run. The light it replaces was 20 watts, so a fifty percent saving on the previous light.

Great design means easy to put up.
For such a simple thing as a light I was amazed about how well designed and fitted it was. Good clean bright unit. Hinged lights meant no more trying to fix cables onto hanging LED fittings. So much easier than lights I'd fitted in the past.

Good quality unit
Neat finish. Easy to install. Variable output levels is a useful function to enable adjustment to suit location.

Good Value but poor design
Arrived slightly damaged probably because it was mailed only in its original box with no padding. I did not open the package until after the return date so couldn't really exchange it.A tiny plastic lug on the lighting plate hinge had broken off. I was able to fix it by drilling a small hole and fitting a tiny machine screw. However I was impressed that the lighting temperature and wattage can be changed (within the casing) via microswitches. Connecting up was easy, but you need to provide your own (twin core) flex/cable and plug/fuse. There are several variations of design and the instructions were slightly confusing; there is also a battery-powered 'emergency' light version and the fitting has a redundant connecting wire for this. The light is perfect for the under-stairs reading hidey-hole. See photos.I suggest that the unit be redesigned with a stronger hinge mechanism. But no real complaints as the price was excellent.Assuming the LEDs hold out for lots of years.

Easy to fix, looks smart and works well
This is a review of the Emergency light variant which is well made, easy to fix and works well. The light is boxed, with instructions and fixing screws and wall plugs. The light is switchable for power between 18, 14 and 9 watts and for colour temperature between 3000, 4000 and 6000 Kelvin. The LEDs are mounted on a hinged metal plate which is attached to the body of the light with a turn-screw. The light is IP65 rated and the back of the light has a grommet for cable access along with suggested fixing hole points. There are push button connectors for the permanent live, switched live, earth and neutral. Before operation the battery connector, which is left disconnected, needs to be plugged back in. For the main lighting the LEDs are arranged in two circles and consist of warm white LEDs and cool white LEDs which are lit depending on the colour temperature switch, and are dimmed depending on the power level switch. The emergency lighting LEDs are separate and are under a plastic cover in the centre of the light; these illuminate very brightly on emergency and last, on test, over 3 hours. The plastic diffuser is screwed on and has a rubber sealing ring to keep the IP65 rating. The light was easy to fix to a ceiling, looks good and works well; I would recommend it.
