Junk
This is my 3rd floormate. The first two lasted forever.Bought this July 2020 for $149.99. It is now April 2023 and I'm avoiding doing my taxes by venting about this poorly engineered hunk of junk. The clean soapy water solution tank cap was faulty after my first use. Hoover sent me an entire new floormate instead of just a new crappy cap. So, 9 months pregnant during the height of the plannedemic, I had to go to the shipping store to send back the first unit. Fast forward a bit, and the solution sprayer part on that clicks on over the brush quit working. Ordered that part direct from hoover because it's cheaper than here. The solution tank cap has since failed twice more but since I just replaced a $40 part, I will order another cap... again. Ebay this time because I can get two for what I would pay for one on Amazon.Update: May 2024, it has finally stopped being functional completely. Everyone I turn it on and tilt the handle back to engage the brush, it turns off. Definitely not worth the current 3 hundred dollar price, which is double what I paid initially. You've been warned.

Battery issues
Works pretty well and is much lighter weight that the original floor mate. It does not scrub as well as the original either. Battery life isn’t that great I can get about 3/4 through my 1800 sq foot home before it dies. Not sure it’s worth buying the second battery at $50. I like the cleaning tray and feature, but again you have to have battery power to use it, so if it does mid clean you are stuck waiting until the battery is recharged. I would recommend the original floor mate if you don’t care about lightweight and cordless. It is a better product but bulky and not as easy to get into smaller spaces.Update: after about 6 months of extreme frustration with the battery because it slowly started work for less and less time, the batter completely stopped charging. There is a factory warranty and I was able to get a new battery sent. The new one is a 4.0 battery. I am hoping this one last longer. If you have a battery that isn’t working we’ll call Hoover and have them send you a new battery for fee.

Love It
My wife really wanted the Bissell CrossWave, but after reading reviews and seeing the price I convinced her to try this instead and if we hated it, we'd return it.Let me tell you, this thing is legit. My wife *wants* to clean the floors now. We have 2000 sq ft of stained concrete, a dog, and two little crumb droppers and this keeps the floors looking great. It's really great in the kitchen. I do most of the cooking and I'm definitely not the neatest cook. Now, instead of having to break out a broom, then a mop, it's just one machine to clean the kitchen. One note: if the air filter gets wet, there won't be any suction. We experienced this once and thought the thing was broken. It's very important you dry it completely before using it again (it literally says dry for 24 hours on the filter label :-) ).

Don’t waste your money or time.
The head broke on first use, handle release step sounds like it is breaking when you put enough pressure on it to release handle. NOT Hoover quality!I have owned several FloorMates over many years, and in my experience they were well-designed, high quality products. I used them along with my Oreck Orbiter to clean my very large area of ceramic tile, and this combination worked beautifully for many years. When it became time to replace my last one, I saw this and figured that the cordless design was a useful feature, so I ordered it. Unfortunately it was over a month before I had time to set it up and use it, and a piece underneath the head broke off before I had cleaned my first 3’ area. It did not do a good job at drying the floor. It was too late to return it to Amazon.I emailed Hoover, hoping they would help me trade this for one of the older model FloorMates that would actually suit my needs. None of the people at Hoover whom I interacted with bothered to actually READ my request, they all glibly pointed me to a local repair shop. When I specifically asked the last “customer service” person if the repair shop could exchange this item to one of the older designs, I was told “you will have to call the local place to see, it depends on their policies.”I called the local place, which is the same place that recommended the FloorMate to me many years ago, and was told that they NEVER had the authority to swap the models like I wanted, and furthermore they had stopped carrying Hoover models. He implied that they no longer met his quality standard, and he didn’t have an alternative from another brand because he would rather not carry an item than carry something poorly made. So, unless you want a lightweight, poorly made, expensive item that will break when you use it, don’t buy this product. If you want to spend your hard-earned money on quality products backed by solid customer support, don’t buy Hoover products.
