This is an EXCELLENT mug warmer! With a couple caveats...
I liked that the voltage was higher than most warmers and so keeps your tea or coffee nice and HOT! it also has 2 choices on temperature. It has a warning beep after a set time to let you know that its going to turn itself off- around an hour(?). The other great thing is that the vendor saw a review I wrote and immediately sent me a replacement. I was amazed because I didn't even have to ask. The second one had the same smell, but somehow it dissipated after a couple weeks, which seemed more normal. I gave it 5 stars partly because it is the best one on Amazon, but also for the customer service. I could never get a "thank you" to the vendor or find out how to ship the first one back, but I so appreciated that! and I can only hope they read this review.I still have both of them and keep one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. Here are the caveats: When new it has a pronounced caustic hot plastic smell while it's on. The smell lingered with the first unit for 2 months or more and it can really stink up a room while on. The second one is a silly one. It's brown. My least favorite color, but both units work so well now, no odor at all, that I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND this unit (despite the brown!).

A good choice for your first coffee mug warmer
This is my first and only coffee mug warmer, therefore I cannot compare it to others. Here are a few things that some customers would be interested in.1. This one has two temperature settings. When I pick this product I don’t really care about it so much. But after using it for a week, it turns out that this is indeed a must-have feature. When the cup is full, you need a high temperature setting to keep your coffee warm. While the cup is close to empty, the high temperature easily burns things out. Therefore, for anyone who is looking for a coffee mug warmer, please rule those without this function out.2. The auto shut-off function works in terms of time. This means it doesn’t really care if your coffee or cream goes congealed. This also means if you leave your coffee for more than two hours, it gets cold.3. Get used to cover it with the silicone pad after using it. And never left anything on the heating plate.4. It’s very quiet. No noise. The size is perfect. Since the package is not very exquisite, it may not be a good choice for a gift. Don't get wrong. The design of the warmer itself is delicate.I hope this review is helpful.

Junk and probably dangerous
THE PROBLEMPlugged this in and immediately began to smell that "electric burning" smell. Shined my iPhone light at it and noticed faint smoke coming from inside the plastic case. Thought maybe there was some residue that might need to burn off, so I waited and watched. Smoke and smell kept up. After 5 minutes I unplugged it and started a return on Amazon.MY IMPRESSIONEven if it hadn't smoked, my impression of this is that it's cheap plastic crap. Nothing about it inspired confidence. A mug warmer doesn't have to be heavy to be functional, but this thing just feels cheap. What can I say? You'd know it if you held it in your hand.DISAPPOINTMENTIt's kind of silly how much I was looking forward to receiving this and keeping my coffee warm while I sit up gaming into the wee hours. Now I have to drive to a Kohls to return it, and wait for a replacement. I know, first world problems, right? Also, I'm peeved that I was about to buy the universally highly rated Mr. Coffee one when an ad on that page FROM AMAZON said "A newer version is available!" with a link to this crap that is, I noticed too late, completely unrelated to Mr. Coffee in any way.

It's hot enough.
Problem: My old warmer wasn't hot enough. I had been forced to acquire flat-bottomed, thin, small, or metal mugs to get enough heat transfer to maintain temperature.Solution: Welcome to the 21st century. This new warmer is so hot that even the low setting makes my thin or metal mugs uncomfortably hot. Those mugs have retired. Now, I can return to service some of my favorite mugs that are a little thicker or a little larger (with reason).Caveats: 1. A four-hour auto-shutoff is a long time. It's long enough to evaporate almost an inch of coffee, risking dry-burn. I'd have preferred 2 hours. 2. The buttons as so sensitive that a mouse-cord can turn the warmer off or, worse, on. At least the button-beep is audible.

Mommas coffee stays warm
As most moms know a hot cup of coffee happens ... like never ! I bought a bunch of insulted mugs before my second child was born because I knew I would need the caffeine boost but I also wanted to have my coffee warm when I went for it. Well, even though many mugs claim they stay hot for X time, they just don’t seem to actually stay hot. I was sitting at my desk the other day and I reached for a cold cup of coffee, again, when I had a serious “duh” moment. I purchased this mug warmer mainly because the color goes with my decor! It’s even got a little glitter to the enamel. It warms instantly and has two settings - low and high. I usually keep mine on high since I really enjoy my coffee to be hot. It also comes with this handy little silicone cover so you don’t have an open hot pad when not in use with a mug but before it’s cooled down. Unfortunately I have a cat that jumps on my desk, so I use this pad every time.

Easy to accidentally turn on and off
Keeps coffee at an acceptable temperature, but fails at design. An item that you will brush against constantly on your desk and while picking up and sitting down your coffee should not be activated (or deactivated) at the slightest touch. Both the on/off and high/low buttons activate this way. Also, bizarrely, turning it on does not turn it on. You then have to choose high or low to get heat. Love the design, but should a) have switches that require actual turning on and off rather than a feather touch and b) when turned on, it should be on. Temperature can be adjusted once on.
