NICE little TV, and it's perfect for my use in my workshop.
I ordered this to replace the little RCA that I had that gave out after only 3 years. I use it at my workbench in the basement, with a coax input from my preamp that feeds the 3 other TV's in house from an outside antenna. I get a good signal, and this little TV seems to have a decent and sensitive tuner (unlike the RCA). I get all the stations and sub channels that my big TV's get (29 digital and 2 analogue) so no problems with it picking up. I was worried when I first hooked it up, with the little push-in adapter for the antenna lead - - it was barely picking up 4 channels. I took it out and just hooked my coax onto a gold push-on adapter that allowed it to go into the recessed connection and that did the trick. No problems at all now, so be aware that the little included adapter is pretty much useless - - apparently loses a lot of signal there. The picture is good and sharp and I had no trouble flipping through the menu and tweaking it a little. Attaching the base is not a problem if you have a magnetic screwdriver. Nice little set, all in all, and I hope it lasts longer that the RCA did. It was charged when I took it out of the box and stayed on about 45 minutes, so happy with that, too. I have amplified speakers hooked to the audio jack, so the sound is great. Good purchase, and I'm very happy with this unit. Since I am experienced in TV and antenna installation from way back, this set was no problem for me to set up and use, but were I a novice I suppose the included instructions would be useless, they are pretty bare bones. Knowing that the included antenna would be only used for strong local channels is also a given, so as long as you know to hook it to a good outdoor or amplified indoor antenna you won't be disappointed. All of these little battery TV's are pretty much the same in that respect, so keep that in mind. This one is really nice and worth the money, so I'm very happy with it and for my use it's perfect. Someday when I get time I'll explore the USB and cable input capabilities, but for right now I'm enjoying it keeping me company at my workbench.

One of my worst electronics purchases
I wanted a small TV to put on the patio table so I could watch the news while I got things ready for a BBQ. This was the “Best seller” so I thought I would try it out. It probably took an hour to unpack it and assemble it. The two screws in the base unit that are used to connect the swivel/tilt head were a real problem. You want a well magnetized Phillips screwdriver or a pair of long-reach needle nose pliers to succeed. You will understand the problem when you unpack and try to assemble your purchase.Plugging in the TV with its wall-wart 12 volt supply and switching it on is the easy part. I attached the telescoping metal antenna to the connector on the top and off we went. Someone had previously purchased and set up my TV. It tried to connect to strange channels with unusual station letters. Obviously, they had returned it and I was the latest owner. The remote control did not work until I installed a new battery, then I pressed the menu button and was able to go through the setup procedure. One fundamental problem that I found was that it was impossible to change the tint in any of the picture settings. I was stuck with having a magenta hue for everything on the screen. A quick comment about the screen quality; the picture was best when seen from below looking up at the screen. If you stood the TV on its stand on a table and looked down at it, the picture colors were terrible. The final straw that broke the camel’s back was the very poor ability of this TV to pick up a decent signal from either of the two supplied plug-in antennas. I live about 4 miles direct line of site from a mountain that hosts transmitters for channels 8, 10 and 15. Channel 8 did not come in at all (it was not even detected in the scanning setup); channel 10 would provide a broken picture; channel 15 did an acceptable job of providing a stable picture as long as nobody moved around while it was playing. It very much reminded me of the days of analog TV’s with rabbits ears.I really wanted to like this little TV. The form-factor was just what I had been looking for but the picture tint and lack of ability to bring in a decent picture on my three most watched channels made it not worth keeping. I returned it to Amazon the next day.
