Works as expected when bought ...a little unreliable
I had no problem installing the drive. I will admit I'm better at installing computer hardware and software than most. It worked immediately and what I needed it to do. For a while, it worked like a dream ripping, burning, reading whatever I needed it to do.UPDATE: It is still working two years later. - I can't really complain about it.

outdated and expensive
I bought this Optical drive at the end of 2018 now 12/12/2020 does not longer works at all. I've been working for several days to repair it at no avail... So for the price and what you would get out of it...not recommended at all...best to try a different brand.
