Users of older LInux versions might need to upgrade
I'm running an older version of Linux, Kubuntu 14,04. At the time I bought this device there was no compliant Linux driver. I ended up having to compile one from source. I believe newer versions of the Linux kernel include support for these devices out-of-the-box.

Works fine! (When it wants too)
This thing is so weird. It comes with a disc that has all the drivers that are "needed" but when I plugged it in it worked fine, then when I installed the drivers it stopped working and it wouldn't want to turn on at all. So I uninstalled the drivers but the thing still wouldn't want to turn on. For an hour straight, I tried connecting it to multiple USB ports and it just wouldn't turn on. Then randomly I reconnected it again and it finally decided to turn on. I didn't do anything either, it's almost like it has a mind of its own. It's fine now. I can unplug it, replug it, and it will still work. Very fast internet as well! Not supersonic speeds but better than any USB wifi adapter that I've used.UPDATE:It's been a few months now and it has started to give me issues. What do I mean? Well, most of the time, it likes to randomly disconnect me from games or calls when I have high internet speeds (100up/100down). I am defiantly looking for a replacement. Would not recommend.

Very cool! It is not plug and play with windows 10 though. I had to install using the disk provided. Works perfectly right after.Pretty bulky. However very fast internet!

Failed in a little over a month.
Gave new life using the ac feature to my antiquated laptop.**UPDATE**I bought this on may 14, 2017, and it suddenly failed a little over a month later. It no longer recognizes any AP. At first I thought it was the dongle that I attach it to, so I attached it directly to a USB 2.0 and 3.0 port, and NO JOY. Then I thought it might be a windows update that installed recently, so I uninstalled all of the latest updates, all to no avail. I uninstalled the device and the GUI, and re-installed it. It just doesn't work. The box that it came in was not sealed in plastic wrap, and this may have been a return, but it has worked flawlessly up until now. It's very embarrassing to be in front of a customer, and you can't connect your wireless adapter to their PC in hopes of selling the same device to them.

Support for Linux is ... very suboptimal.
Have not tested support for/on Windows or Mac OS X, only Linux, Ubuntu Linux Bionic Beaver (18.04.1) LTS to be specific. The adapter does NOT work out of the box. The driver you need to download from TP-Link does NOT work; it is written for a 4-year old Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) kernel and has never been updated. There is a driver available in Ubuntu Linux 18.04 itself, but that works only with version 1 of the adapter, not with version 2.In the end, I trawled the Internet to find a solution and downloaded a single person's copy with modifications of the TP-Link driver, and made it working with this on one of my three Wireless Networks - all other machines in my household, Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Android phones, iPhones, all work flawlessly with all three networks. And all that after I researched specifically for adapters and chipsets that would work with Linux. Well, not this one to the level of quality I expect.

Very nice
Pros: - Good adapter with a great range, I bought this as the range on the small edimax adapter wasn't cutting it in my house. This hasn't had the same issues. - It has great bandwidth - Can connect to the 2.4 or 5ghz frequency which is useful in avoiding the 2.4ghz traffic. - It is a nice and stylish adapter. - Comes with an extension cable - Plug and play with windows 10, no setup required - Can create a hotspot which is a fantastic additionCons: - Sleek, shiny finish is prone to small scratches. - Experiences some dropouts every now and again but that could possibly be to do with the motherboard chipset as it even happened when in the same room as the router, although less frequently - Quite fat so difficult to plug into usb slots especially when the other slots are in use, or if putting in to something like a laptop where the usb port is slightly in the body but the provided extension cable alleviates the issue.Overall a pretty good adapter, 4 Stars.

Excellent adapter
Excellent adapter, very pleased with it - works well with my Devolo powerline network at both 5GHz and 2.4GHz; rock solid connection at both frequencies, and a good range too.I bought the Archer version as I was experiencing intermittent dropped connections with my TP-LINK TL-WN822N 300MBPS High Gain Wireless N USB Adapter and I now have a stable, fast connection. The Devolo Powerline adapters that I have do limit the maximum throughput to about 150Mbps, so I'm obviously not making full use of the Archer's potential, but connection reliability is top-notch and the speed is plenty fast enough for me at the moment. And it will easily cope with any future network upgrades that I do, especially as it's compatible with USB 3.0 as well. The only downside of the Archer unit is its size - it does stick out quite a way from the USB port and so could be easily damaged if you knock it (especially when using a laptop). I tend to use the supplied USB extension cable as that gets around the size issue, and also gives you more flexibility in placing the unit at an optimum position for reception. This worked first time
I was a little concerned about this as there's so many negative reports about USB WIFI adaptors on Windows 10.I contacted TP-LINK support who replied very quickly recommending a few models. So I purchased the TP-LINK Archer T4U AC1200, tried it on my Win10 PC & it worked first time. Speed was the same as the ethernet connection. The reason I bought this was because a Win10 update disabled my ethernet. The possible solutions were very long and drawn out so I figured that this was the easiest option. It sure was & I heartily recommend it.

Good but a few problems
I ordered this thinking that it would be a very good choice since TP-LINK is a widely known reliable company and I needed a quick Wi-Fi adapter for gaming but if I'm honest I was kind of let down. When I first plugged in the device and installed the drivers it worked really well but over time the performance of it degraded. Speeds kept the same but the connection to my router kept dropping out and the only way that I was able to fix the problem is to uninstalled and reinstall the driver every time it happens. The drop out is also very inconsistent and also Windows doesn't even recognise the device sometimes but a quick restart fixes that problem.Overall it is a good device and is very quick but there are a few issues here and there with it which has become quite tedious.
