German quality, variable speed, lots of power, easy disk changes
The media could not be loaded. I have a Makita battery powered angle grinder and it’s OK for light work but I wanted a beast of an angle grinder. That required an AC/corded model.I like the power of this grinder already, it’s a bull dog. It has an industrial look and feels solid in my hands even if it is a bit heavy. I’m a big guy, an extra pound of weight means better quality to me.I looked at every model online, in person and read online ratings for over a week. I don’t own any Metabo so I decided to give this Metabo model a try.I like the 5 inch disk size, gives more cutting versatility. The Metabo is heavy duty, has a lot of power, simple disk changes with a spammer, an arbor lock to assist disk changes, dial variable speed and a locking switch, not a paddle trigger.I avoided the grinders with the patented quick change technology that requires use of OEM disks at high prices.I have a paddle trigger on another tool and with the safety lever it’s annoying. Plain locking switch for me.I bought this particular Metabo from Amazon Sales (formerly Amazon Warehouse). The box was beat up and the grinder had a few light blemishes but it saved me $45 over new plus some Amazon points and I got this grinder for about $120 all in - perfect.I grind a lot of stainless steel, rusted bolts and nuts and rod stock using cutoff wheels, including diamond and vitrified disks. Also in the mix are cup and flat knot wire wheels for clean up and prep work. I clean my gas grill grates with a knotted cup wheel and it works great!Battery grinders just tap out too easily and I wanted a tool not made in China.Metabo is German, the gears are high speed steel and this grinder is heavy but it’s built like a tank. Lots of work coming up for a full audition!

First class mfg.
This was a replacement that I purchased after returning a inexpensive adjustable speed grinder that was absolutely 👎, not worth. The comparison can start from turning on the grinder and listening to the motor. It wore out in 2 hours so that may have something to do with appreciating high quality. If you need a good adjustable speed grinder spend the $ and add to your shop.

Decades of Use
Hi: Personally have decades of using Metabo grinders and occasionally other brands. Bought this only to replace current (same model) and delivery was great as currently on a job requiring grinder. Received and opened box to immediately recognize that the cord was a shortened 8 ft and the rubber cord protector was an inferior type and not thick, tight, heavy protector that Metabo uses, same goes for the plug end. Grinder also came with the standard inferior disk attachment nut with spanner wrench; not the patented Metabo hand tighten, quick change nut, we have all come to appreciate. The speed control has changed also in its placement and direction and didnt have the same firm, hard plastic and feel. Used the grinder off and on for approximately 1 hr and speed control stopped working. Monday morning managed to track down this grinder in Portland, as need it ASAP for work. Paid extra but what amazed me was earlier thinking that I was sold grinder that had less expensive parts to save costs so a vendor could offer it at discount price. Was wrong, grinder bought at the retail store was the exact same and voiced my concerns to management. They had me speak to a authorized tool repair person that repairs Metabo and was told that unfortunately some things have been changed to help keep or maintain profit margin or costs. There is not a grinder available that can still compete with Metabo but will warn anyone seeking to buy and don't use this on a constant basis. Buy the extended warranty. Looked at getting a few parts to fix my other Metabo grinder and it gets to the point that its just better to buy another. Amazon offers some great prices on these grinders and even with the 3 yr extended warranty it is still a deal...... Have a larger Metabo that used only for outside cutting stone. Long days of cutting, unplug it, hang it by the cord, use garden hose and spray out the inside to wash out all the stone dust. Next day will start using it again. Occasionally open the gear box and replace the right angle head gear grease. Only thing actually replace is brushes and couple times a cord...... Metabo are bullet tough. Can add, that my daughter does metal sculptures and bought her the 10amp because she has small hands. Its a fantastic unit and used it for 1 week till she took it from me. If your grinding complex, convoluted things and constantly required to be moving grinder position. Buy the 10 amp WEV11-125 and you won't regret it. Control of using that grinder is unsurpassable. Hope this helps, happy grinding....... John

Compatible with 6 inch Metabo shroud listed here on Amazon
Ooh….. very nice tool addition….. !Ordered (tough to find) the 6 inch guard to replace the 5 inch that ships with it.No one, anywhere (even Canada) had one IN STOCK but one vendor here on Amazon (no part number listed) so took chance…. 21 dollars later I’ve got my “mighty” 6 inch variable speed grinder. What a difference going from previous 4 1/2 & 5 inch grinders. Try a 6 inch cutting wheel on this grinder….. job done !!

Not recommended for welders
It took only 8 months to stop working. I sent it to Metabo company and for what they were asking me to pay, I decided to buy a new one from a more trustable brand, now I am happy with my Dewalt.

A lot of power that is easy to control
Works as advertised. A lot of power that is easy to control. The speed selection is excellent and it runs at the selected speed even as the load varies. Nice tool.

Variable speed, nice
The variable speed makes this angle grinder a joy to use! By slowing down the speed you can grind, wire wheel, or buff longer.Wire wheels last longer at slower speeds.

Really good grinder.
I have tried cheap variable speed grinders, they will do the job, but they lose a lot of speed under pressure at low speeds. I used the Metabo variable speed grinder to polish stone countertop, on the lowest setting, it was impossible to stall this grinder, or even slow it down. I am extremely happy with this grinder, and if I need another one in the future, I will definitely buy another one.
