Great, but easy to make better!
This is a great cargo bag, the material is nice and the zippers are sturdy. I’ve used mine for a few years and thousands of miles now, driving through any possible weather condition. It’s been solid each time, but using totes (plastic bins) with lids inside has been the real game-changer. I found one locally that perfectly filled one half of the bag, so I bought two.My experience with this cargo bag has only been with those totes inside, but it’s very sturdy and has hard sides with them in there. It mounts very flat and stable on my cargo rack, and there’s no need to compress it with the straps to stay put. Water has gotten in the bag once, but nothing got wet since everything was in the bins. I know I sound like a salesman here, but the addition of those totes really solves all the issues of water ingress, things getting smashed or compacted inside, etc. Plus, when I arrive at my destination, I can just take the totes and go, no need to get the wet/sandy/muddy/salty/whatever-have-you encrusted bag inside to unload it.This bag is made of the same stuff as pretty much any other cargo bag, so issues of it being too stiff in cold and almost being a puddle in heat are the nature of these bags, not just this one. If your exhaust blows straight at it, there’s a good chance you melt it in that spot. The manual says specifically that it can melt from exhaust and that it’s not waterproof, so you can’t fault it there.Overall, I’m really happy with mine as part of a system of cargo transport. It carries the stuff nicely, but to eliminate the potential of that stuff getting wet or crushed requires you create your own solution. I don’t know if I would trust this bag or any others like it just on their own

Maybe it's not what's pictured but still a great cargo bag...
Received super fast...ordered on a Thursday, received the following Monday. Have read many reviews here on Amazon about others not receiving what's pictured. Must admit, it's a hard call. Is it lighting, camera angle or is there really a difference? What I received is not a canvas bag but rather a unusually heavy vinyl coated nylon bag. I did a few tests, it's definitely waterproof. The zippers are heavy duty and are covered by flaps...except in the expansion area where the zippers cover an expanable flap...still will maintain waterproofness. All of the seam are electronically welded. The six tie-downs attachments are triple reinforced. The size dimensions are correct: 48x19x22 (when expanded). The main criterias for me were in order: waterproof, being the right size to fit my carrier and heavy duty. This bag meets those criteria and I would recommend it especially at the Amazon price of $54.00 delivered.November 2012 UpdateJust returned from a 3000 mile trip including driving through and staying in areas hit by hurricane Sandy. This bag is definitely waterproof and can carry much more than we thought. Had no issues with the bag lashed down to a cargo carrier with 4 rachet straps even at speeds of 70 mph. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect Cago Bag...Went through rain, snow, and even a car wash!
We purchased this bag to carry our luggage in while travelling on our family vacation to California, and it worked perfectly! We are a family of 6 and have very little extra space inside our vehicle for cargo. We were able to fit 6 various-sized duffle bags (2 that were quite large), a couple sleeping bags, beach gear, and other small items inside with room still to spare. We drove through heavy snow and rain from Salt Lake City, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada. Not a drop of water got inside the bag! Once we arrived in Vegas, my husband took the Jeep, with the cargo bag still attached, through a self-serve car wash to clean all the salt and grime off from the storm. The dirt sprayed right off and everything inside was still dry. We bought an aluminum cargo carrier from Harbor Freight, and this bag fits perfectly inside. I can't say enough good things about this bag! I definitely recommend it to anyone who needs extra space when travelling. Also, I attached a picture for anyone who would like to see how the bag looks packed and ready to go in the cargo carrier. At first, I was a little hesitant to buy the bag based on some of the negative reviews regarding the appearance of the material it's made of. I'm so glad I went ahead and purchased it! The material does remind me of a rubber raft; but I don't think that's a bad thing. It's durable and a breeze to clean!
