Zatarain's New Orleans Style Gumbo Base, 16 oz - One 16 oz Box of Gumbo File Base, Perfect for Traditional South Louisiana Gumbo

This is my favorite gumbo seasoning. I have also used the Zatarain’s gumbo mix, but prefer the base. I have made big batches of gumbo to share with family and friends who always want more. It is an easy way to make truly tasty gumbo. Just follow the directions and you can’t go wrong. I like to add andouille sausage, shrimp and chicken. Using the base allows diners to add their preferred rice or other starch if desired. Lip smacking good!

The container came quickly and was very full unlike sometimes when you buy from supermarkets. The flavor was exceptionally fresh, I mainly use it to make seafood gumbo. I use about 3Tbs in my recipe so I think it’s a great value for the money. It will last me for a while. I really had a hard time finding the product offline and when I did it was in very small quantities. I am very happy with the size and amount of product. Great value!

I enjoyed having the quantity at the value, never run out before the pot of gumbo does, just found a tad sweet for my taste. But will buy again.

My wife is from Mississippi and she makes some incredible GUMBO. We recently moved to Maine and I guess Gumbo isn't a thing here. Luckily, Amazon saved the day. Zatarians makes the tastiest Cajun products.

This is excellent and takes the constant stirring out of making a roux . But cold water is completely necessary to dissolve this . For extra flavor use chicken broth with the water . Follow the direction and your gumbo will be amazing . I add shrimp , andouille and chicken to mine . I sautee celery, bell pepper and onion first . Enjoy !
