Bit's break but still worth it.
Even though the bits break periodically, I think it's worth the trouble. I built two high end decks for clients and these bits allowed a high level of finish without extra steps. Big time-saving and for that matter back-saving. I used #7s on the first deck and #8 on the second. If you can, stick with the #8. #8 only broke on me once on a 20x30' deck, I went through 8 or 10 replacement bits on a similar sized deck with the #7. I'll probably use them in my finish work too, but haven't had the opportunity yet. Also, I do think it works better using the headcote screws as opposed to simpson.Absolutely recommend -- buy replacement bits at the same time you buy the countersink.

It works well but the bits break pretty easily. Make sure to drill sraight down and when replacing a bit make sure the flat side of the bit is aimed towards the screw that's tighten with the allen wrench. The bit can't be pushed in all the way before tightening otherwise part of the round part is in front of the screw that holds it in place. Unscrew the screw completely and take a look and you'll see what I mean.

not needed really for #7
I've done 1000sf with their similar plugging bit into ipe (insane project) larger size bit, it worked pretty good actually went through a few of them of course. Doing some lesser decks i decided to face screw...the bits break if you're not careful but that's to be expected on these sizes they are super small, straight down, make sure no screws are in line you'll be drilling. have spares. I also cool my bit with a wet towel after every drilling when drilling into the hardwood. But ....a #7 trim bit is so small, the tip of this cutter broke (not bit) and in hindsight it's clear why...it's small, a #8 would have bit more cutter meat. But frankly...a #7 counter sink is so small i just switched to a normal dewalt/ milwaulkee #8 and it's literally one tap with the cutter top for a split second if you're just lightly careful and counter sink is good enough for a trim screw.

Well made tool
Very good price compared to locally.

Poor quality.
Bought two of these and countersink teeth broke on both. I've had others if same brand last for several jobs but the new ones are cheaply made and don't last.

tigerwood is a very hard Brazilian wood that is traditionally not easy to drill cleanly
Used this for a tigerwood deck (~600 sq ft); tigerwood is a very hard Brazilian wood that is traditionally not easy to drill cleanly. The carpenters I used were very impressed with the speed of drilling and the quality of the holes made (minimal tear out).Great combination with thehttps://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00F3HUTB0/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_7trim head screws.

Not adjustable
The Trim Smart Bit Pre-Drilling and Countersinking Tool for Decks is NOT adjustable. The two sets we purchased counter sunk the #7 screw about 1/16 to deep in our Ironwood deck. Without an adjustment, we had to glue on a plastic washer to make the screws fit flush with the decking. Would have returned them but needed them for the job.

Well worth the money
I've been using this bit for a week building a series of decks. It came with a bucket of screws from TimberTech Reliaboard. This is the best countersink I've ever used, and I've been using them for years. Excellent for wood or polymer. Has seen extensive use (ever screw MUST be pre-drilled) without losing it's performance. The only shortcoming is that the depth gauge doesn't allow for steep angles or tight spots. Other than that I love this bit. Highly recommended. jtp
