Q: Can these be used on synthetic fibers?

It can, but when it is set with an iron make sure the heating option won’t damage the fabric

Q: Can it be used on something that will be in the water like a bathing suit?

It has a plastic or rubber shiny like texture to the paint when it dries. I washed the apron after I painted it and it held up well. Chlorine may eat away at the paint and may dull the texture and shine. I hope this helps.

Q: How do you heat seal on shoes (as in video)?

You might use one of the small craft irons.

Q: Can this paint (the metallic option) be diluted with some water to create a watercolour effect - and still set properly?

I'm using these paints on an Ultra Pro play mat and I am using water to give a watercolorish background. The playmat is like a mouse pad material. Its drying great, but I'm not done so I have heat set it yet.
