Sturdy and very effective
Perfect for a large toybox. The hinges are so sturdy, I wonder if I shouldn't add support to the box itself to ensure it doesn't crack (I used a soft wood). My two year old can open the toy box and it stays open (doesn't smash his fingers). It is hard for him to close the lid (perhaps he's less motivated?). It is extremely easy to install. This is a great product!

Perfect!
This is a great product. It does what it says, we used it for a toy chest that we built and the lid holds up great and doesn't slam down on little fingers. I recommend this product to everyone!

Great hinges; Bad Pricing
Based on the price I expected the metal to precious in some way like gold or silver under the finish. Well that is not the case, seems to be just a low quality cast metal with a nice finish.Hey rockler, while you're overcharging for this... maybe you could include a free template for the screws...even if it is paper instead of only offering a pay option for a plastic jig. If you're selling two woodworkers and not production shops it seems likely that I don't need a jig to use every other day. I just need a template for use a couple times a year. The hinges work well overall once you accept the premium you paid. Install is a pain as Rockler is trying to make an extra buck on a template. But you are a smart woodworker, use their dimensions to make your own jig.Rockler, I look forward to a third party making a comparable and lower cost option. I intend to buy such an option when it becomes available.

Perfect for toyboxes
I have 6 grandkids, and i made each one a toybox. These are the perfect hinges for them. I don't bother anymore with the other hinges and lid support combinations. The Rocklet hinges do both jobs! They are heavy duty and worth every penny!

The lid still slams after a certain point. For $70.00 you would think it work properly.
Over priced and does not perform as described!

Works great! Definitely worth the price
Works great! Definitely worth the price. Built a toy box for my son and needed some hinges that would prevent him from smashing his little fingers. These do the job.

Don't buy anything else!
The last toy chest I built I was not able to use these due to the design of the chest. I had to use the lid stay type that limits how far you can open the lid. This time I used rockler's and will not buy anything else again. You need 3/4" thick stock to mount them where it makes the "u" and the flat part supports the lid. Use the weight calculator on rockler's site to determine the hinge weight you need and how many.

Expensive With No Adjustment
I did not use their jig to install and had no major problems with the install on my granddaughter's toy box. The 40 inch pound hinges were a little on the 'over kill' side for the lid (36" L x 16" W x 3/4" plywood). The 30 inch pound hinges would probably have not been enough resulting a lid that slams the last few inches of closing. That is my only gripe with these hinges; I wished they had some small adjustment to the tension. I don't think that is asking too much given the price. Perhaps when Rockler gets some competition they will lower the price and/or add adjustment capabilities.Given the price I'm not sure if I would buy again as there are other options.
