The first set of brushes I received arrived with seven of the brushes damaged. I tried to reshape them, but was unsuccessful. After a few miscommunications with customer service I was very satisfied when they offered to replace the whole set. My new set arrived and they are perfect. I would have been happy just to have replacements but they gave me a whole set and I didn't have to go to the hassle of returning the first set which was a real bonus. These are long handled and have the name and size printed on them. The sizes are all in the medium range. I found I needed additional small brushes and would like to add a few larger brushes as well. But still a good variety. The case is excellent for keeping the brushes organized and I like how it props up so you can easily see your brushes. It zips closed and would be excellent for storage or travel. A very nice case, especially compared to other sets. I got hot pink which tickles my fancy. These brushes would make an excellent gift because they are packaged so nice and it's a solid set. These would suit beginners and pros alike. These are good quality and don't shed or fray so far. They clean up fine, I have no complaints. The price was decent and the case makes them a real bargain. I paint with acrylics. I do wish the set included a dagger brush and cats tongue brush because those are my favorites. All in all a solid set of brushes. I would recommend them and would purchase again. They came boxed like a real gift with a bow which was a nice touch. It was a surprise and made me feel like I was in for a real treat. Overall a good purchase and experience.

I was excited to get this set of brushes but was wary of the quality because of the price. After painting (acrylic) with these, I have to say they are an excellent set for the price! First I read other reviews and learned that the paint on the handles would wear off if I soaked the whole brush in water. Well I never do that anyway, so after a month, the handles on my brushes are still intact, no chipped paint. I read the instructions that came with the brushes and had to trim a few stray hairs but that was it. The bristles remain soft and glide smoothly as they did the first day I used them. The biggest plus is the case! I love the way it serves as a case and a brush stand. I was at Michaels craft store the other day and found the same brushes sold individually - some of them were as high as 9.50 each!! This set is definitely worth the value! I'm glad I found them here first!

I decided to wait and write the feedback after I put these to good use. As a novice art student, I'm mindful of costs, so I decided to purchase a set of these based on others' comments. These brushes arrived promptly and were packed beautifully. After quite a few rather clumsy attempts using these on watercolors and oils, I've realized that they are pretty hardy brushes. The ease of cleaning is amazing and they seem to retain their shape. I left a couple of them unwashed (my bad) for a few days and they sprung back like new.I was half-dreading what others' said about shedding bristles -- none of that so far. Come to think of it, I've not seen this AT ALL with my set.I've decided that with the amount of use, these have proven their worth. It seems the right thing to share my other set with another friend who's struggling to save up for these brushes. She's the BETTER artist and deserves great items to help her art work. I can't wait to give her my surprise present "just because"! Thanks, Artscape for a wonderful product. I would recommend this set to others without any reservations.

I am a beginning oil painter so and I know that good brushes can be very expensive. I decided to get this set because it looks to be good value and the company is very responsive to issues. The variety in the set gives me an opportunity to learn which shapes I enjoy working with the most. The problem I have with the brushes is that when I load the flat brushes up with paint the bristles separate. I can see why it is necessary to pay for good brushes. These are working fine for now but won't be satisfactory for long.The brushes arrived in great condition and I like the holder.

Half of the brushes arrrived bend, dysfunctional and not usable or fixable. Hairs are bend and wonky. Also the metal is already loose holding the brush hair from the handle.

Fantastic brushes and customer service. I sent email to Artscape at 2:58 AM ( yes AM ) and had a response back at 4:35AM! I had bought the 12 inch, 8 inch and detail brushes. I was pre -washing the brushes and some bristles fell out of the 12 inch #15 filbert. ( no problems with any of the others. ) I sent an email and within 2 hours a replacement brush was on the way. I have never had such great service!The brushes are soft and most are long bristle which is what I wanted. They take up paint well and lay down a smooth layer. ( I use acrylic ).The holder is very well made and protects the brushes as well as make them at hand when working on a project.Did you ever have a brush that was so nice that you were torn between using it right away and not using it to keep it nice and new? These are those brushes.

The brushes are amazing. For the price I paid per brush, I can't imagine a better deal out there. But this case is an absolute piece of garbage. Don't trust the picture, Its literally just super crappy stiff nylon with a velcro strap on the side with the brushes, and two female strips of velcro (one to keep it down in storage and one to put it into "upright" position, as shown in the photograph). I'm not sure what magical surface they have it set on in this photograph but its physically impossible to get it like that on any surface here on earth.This review sounds very critical. I didn't buy this set of brushes for the purple carrying case, I bought it for the brushes. It has every size and shape you can possibly hope for for just over $2 a brush (at the moment I bought this). So I consider the case just a pointless bonus, and oh how pointless it is. For any amateur painter, this is a no-brainer, buy this set
