The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: California Library Edition Hardcover – September 15, 2020

Danger Days is my favorite MCR album due to the amount of story and worldbuilding that’s packed into it and I’m a big fan of The Umbrella Academy so I had to get this. Didn’t disappoint at all! It was a very engaging story and had good characters. Likable protagonist and supporting characters, interesting antagonist, and was cool to see the human side of Korse. Val Velocity is a strange dude and I was never bored to see what he was up to. There’s also two major-ish characters who are canonically queer (won’t spoil which ones) which I think is cool. I wouldn’t call this Gerard’s best work but it’s a fun read and if you like the universe behind Danger Days as much as I do it’s definitely worth the read imo. Don’t let yourself get too attached to anyone though because a lot of people die!Overall ratings:Story - 7.5/10.Art - 10/10! Becky Cloonan is very skilled and her art is very dynamic and beautifulCharacters - 8/10. Character designs are great & they are well written; they all have distinct and unique personalities. The girl can sometimes feel a bit flat (not always, most of the time she’s good) imo but otherwise all is great. Honestly, I was having a rough couple of months, so I wanted to cheer myself up with something fun to read. And that I did. Originally I didn't know what to expect, but considering what I got and how much I paid for it, I definitely made the right choice.I ordered a hardcover copy, and other than the box it was shipped in, everything arrived in basically perfect condition, and the shipping is beyond seller control, so I can't complain.As for the contents of the book itself, I was very pleased with the overall print quality and the vibrancy of the illustrations. The hardcover print is a fair bit bigger than the average book, which is convenient for me because I have vision issues, so I would consider that a plus as long as you have space for it. Definitely a good purchase, so if you're thinking about it, I'd encourage you to go for it. Very solid investment.

Way bigger than expected, but not a bad thing. It comes with one of those lovely ribbon bookmarks coming out of the spine; perfect for people like me who never know what to use as a bookmark, and end up using scrap paper.Beautiful art! Totally worth the extra money just for the art section alone!Only complaint is minor damage to the top of the spine due to how it was packaged/transported.

To be honest it is pretty confusing and you have to read it a few times to fully understand what is going on since he explains the story through flashbacks, however once you understand it, it is enjoyable. I like the art, the writer (obviously), and that all the couples in it are subtly gay. I like watching the nanana music video and making the connections to the story and that it brings the characters to life, and I love the whole atmosphere of the killjoys

I cannot recomend this comic enough!
