Beautiful and Durable
As many of the reviews indicate, this kettle is beautiful and elegant. I have used the kettle almost daily for the last 10 months. Like others, I was initially disappointed that the dragon whistle was not made of metal. I quickly realized that this actually made the kettle more useful. The whistle does not heat up so it may be safely removed with a bare hand the moment that steam stops coming out. I have also found that the whistle is louder if less water is placed in the kettle. Likewise, water will not sputter from the whistle if the kettle is not overfilled.

Love this tea kettle!
Makes me happy every time I look at it! Beautiful design, such great quality. The dragon whistle is plastic but looks like copper-colored metal. Instant kitchen upgrade when I put this on my stovetop!

DONT DO IT
DO NOT BUY IT!!!!Please , if you have 200 box to throw in the garbage just give to someone in the street but don't waist your time on itWhen i first saw it i love it i thought "omg its so beautiful and probably amazing quality, i can't wait to heat water for my coffee on it every morning"After the return time frame policy expired,or about 3 months later after heating water everyday there it started coming out something with it!!!!its the water + something that looks like a chemical, i think its iron coming in liquid i don't no but i know that i now it is useless, because whatever it is this weird thing i don't wanna put it into my body....also the top of it (the little animal) looks like its old already thought the inside...I always took very good care of it!, i put only water there, i wash it only by hand with water...and dry it every time i use it!so really its something from the Thing itself!!!feel so regretful and upset ..... because this thing was 200!!!! insane ...I WANT MY MONEY BACKKKKK HELP! :(

Whistler Woes
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Alessi products and design. I waited a long time before I purchased this item because I was collecting other Allesi product. As you know, it is NOT cheap. I gave this item a 3 because it is NOT easy to use! I will keep it because its iconic and beautiful to look at but when it comes to functionality? 3 stars. The whistler is a mess to work with! It is extremely HOT when the tea is ready and it is HARD to remove. Often I misplace the t-rex whistler as I have to set it on the counter. Trying to get it back into the spout is another chore. I wish it would have been a T-rex whistler attached to the end instead of having to remove it. Plus, kids think its toy when its lying on the counter so good luck! It's only a $200 kettle?!?!?

Gorgeous!
Love my kettle! It is beautiful and thats what I value the most. The dragon fits a little too snugly into the spout making it a little bit less hassle free removing and inserting but other than that, there is no better looking water boiler on the market-

Steam comes out more than one place.
Searched for months finally went with tea Rex. It’s whimsical I was looking for that. I never paid over a hundred bucks for a tea kettle, only thing is the steam not only comes out the PLASTIC tea Rex but the rear of the lid as well. I personally thought the tea Rex was metal - I re read it it looks metallic and that it is. The kettles I’ve had in past for as little as twenty dollars the steam came out where it was suppose to. So that being said you be the judge. 😊 thanks

Beautiful Design BUT Horrific Function
This thing was beautiful and really the only reason I was willing to pay so much for a tea kettle. But my goodness does it function poorly for its intended purpose. Keeping this short, the dragon spout cover is very difficult to put into the spout to the point where you think you're having to bend the spout to make it wider to get it in, which means its also very difficult to get out, ESPECIALLY when it's steaming. Also, the handle is NOT heat resistant so you can't pick up the tea kettle once it's boiling without using something else to hold it with. That said, if you never intend to use your teapot and want it for looks on your stove. It does a great job at that.
