Hayward SPX3220C 2-Horsepower Impeller with Screw Replacement for Hayward Tristar and Ecostar Pump

My impeller was a little over 4 years old (4 years and 2 months). When I rebuilt my pump (replacing the variable speed motor with a 2-speed motor), i heard a sound coming from the pump. A way to describe the sound was similar to the kind you'd hear when a playing card attached to the spokes of a bicycle wheel.My first thought was to replace the impeller ring (which I did with a separate purchase) and then when the sound was still there, opted to replace the impeller, diffuser and seal plate (perhaps an overkill), but after doing so, the sound went away.When I compared the new impeller (same part number) to the old impeller, the biggest difference was in the area where the impeller ring sits. The old one was beveled and had wear grooves in it where as the new one had a surface that was very flat and at a right angle to the rest of the impeller.NOTE: The pump worked flawlessly with the original parts as far as running water through the filter, it's just that the noise that I heard was unnatural and i suspect putting wear grooves in the impeller even faster.

Needed to perform some maintenance on my pool pump. The screw on the old impeller had warped so I replaced the whole assembly. Factory fit and finish.

I bought this impeler you fix a Hayward recostar pump and it was exactly as described. My pump works just as a new one and I did not have to spend $2000.00 on a new pump. If does not have instruction but there are plenty of instructions online from the manufacturer. The part also arrived on time and in good condition.

OK, so, I broke my pool's impeller. 1hp Hayward SP3200EE - the correct part was not available, but this showed compatible so I ordered it. It is a legit Hayward product, but it is correct for 2hp pumps, not 1hp. Yes, it fits. Yes, it looks the same, but it is not the same. I have not yet figured out what is different, but the pressure on my pool pump went from 18psi to 28 psi after installing this. Then the [brand new] motor began throwing the thermal protection switch built in and shutting down. This looks the same, but it is definitely not. My suspicion is this impeller has additional capacity in its internal cavities, and requires a 2hp motor to turn it. The 1hp woudl, theoretically, have a smaller capacity and only require the 1hp. Hayward has 2 p/ns for them, and I can't imagine they woudl produce two of the same part with differnt numbers but maybe they do?
