Great For Catching Wayward Pets!
The media could not be loaded. I took a chance after reading the reviews and am happy with it. I can get all 90° of my kitchen from the corner. I like that you can set it to a pet’s sound for notifications (mine goes “woof-woof” and it’s cute). It does catch people too (bummer!) and loud enough noises but it tells you in the notification if it’s motion or sound which is awesome! I sleep late so my husband unplugs or hides it so it won’t detect him going in and out of the kitchen and the notifications won’t wake me up but then forgets to put it back or plug it back in when he leaves for work. It will still send notifications but not make any alarm if your phone is set to Do Not Disturb mode which is also a nice feature. The picture is pretty clear for facing two windows. I dropped it about a foot onto its front lens and it didn’t crack, break, glitch, error or anything. It still works perfectly. I like the magnetic base feature and the cool metal ring so you can mount it under cabinets or on a wall. The swivel up and down is nice but I have to manually adjust the left to right. It didn’t seem to offer being able to move the camera view in the app. One day, it would have been nice to shift the view down via the app because it got bumped and I wasn’t home to adjust it and didn’t know it until there was motion detected. When I get in my car, which has hands free and I try to connect to the camera, it dials through my phone unless I shut off the WiFi. I don’t get that. It also won’t stay connected to the camera for more than 2 minutes if it goes through the vehicle. It also takes longer to connect to the camera, even sitting in my driveway.I haven’t had any weird squealing sounds when I connect like a few others have. I do wish that, when you expand the camera view on the phone/app, it wouldn’t automatically enable the *microphone*. I want to catch my dog sniffing the counters and wanted to see if she’d jump up to get something off of them but if there is any noise around me and I can’t shut the mic off fast enough, she hears it and leaves the kitchen before I can catch her in the act.The overall camera and access is free, but you have to pay if you want to access recorded video from it. It’s about $5/mo which isn’t bad at all - it could come in handy if you miss notifications or can’t access the camera quick enough.I did buy another brand but I am not happy with it. It only records in 1 minute increments, CONSTANTLY notifies you of ANY movement, has a confusing app that took me forever to figure out and annoyed me so much, so unplugged it and gave up. I would buy more of this PetCam instead. My two issues are these: It says you can share the app/camera but I can’t figure out how (the YouTube video is outdated, my app didn’t have the links or steps they showed) and I would like a way to OPT to be able to have the microphone be able to be turned off before full camera access if the consumer prefers it. Also, the USB to wall jack sticks out like 2” from the wall and where we have it plugged in was annoying so I purchased a flat one instead. Otherwise, so far, very happy with it. Had it about a month now.

Petcube & Petcube Bites 2 Lite, Some Hacks & Recommendations........ See Photos~
We have 2 different petcube cameras (product models linked below) and they've mostly worked well for us, after a year plus. We do not pay for a monthly subscription and just use them for live streaming and treats. I'm sharing some of our small gripes here, as most of the better qualities have already been shared so well (thank you!)...Unfortunately, the night vision makes it so we can't see the treat giving one at night. They are on opposite sides of a room and during the day, we can shoot treats and then switch to the other camera, to see if they've eaten them or if nothing came out, etc. At night, the night vision makes it so the camera looks like a bright light spot and we can't see what's going on there (see pics).I emailed Petcube to see if they might have a hack for this and will update my review if I learn of one. We've tried electrical tape over different lights/ sensors but nothing has worked for us yet. Please share if you have any thoughts on this? The bites model has a treat toss and initially our cats were frightened of it but soon they grew to love it. Smile. Even at the lowest setting, it shoots all the way across the room, to where their litter boxes are (small room). I hacked it to make them (mostly) land on the trays underneath. I think an accessory add on available for cat owners would be a good seller or a shorter toss option.Uploading photos of both of the issues above. The Seahawks duct tape was what was quickest available when getting ready for a vacation, haha!Another recommended improvement would be the zoom. If their food dish is at the bottom right of the picture and we need to zoom in to see if it's empty, we have to zoom at least x7 times, scroll so many times... Was such a hassle and time waster that we moved the food and the cameras around, to make their food dish on the left side of the screen, lol.Lastly, the magnetic disk adhesive eventually didn't hold anymore, fell off the wall more than once. We ended up using a couple screws above and one centered below (the smaller camera) to make it stay up. A better mounting solution would be good; the treat one hasn't fallen once and is very secure. It does seem to clog somewhat easily if any bits of dehydrated treats are in the mix. Dried kibbles and crunchy treats do well but are not our cats first choices. Smile.Although some of these features frustrate my slightly OCD tendencies and the app does occasionally act up, I'd say we're happy with them both overall. Sometimes it takes multiple times opening and closing the app before it connects but usually works within seconds or a few minutes.Recommended.
