Excellent quality and price
I picked this over all the plastic options. Great quality and will last forever without failing. I did put a thin layer of silicone sealant on the mounting flange where it sits against the top of the shower pan. It will never leak.

Very good quality and really good price.
I used this for a drain for fiberglass shower. It is easy to use and very good quality.

Very good. Solid, threads accurate, perfect machining quality.
The part is full brass, including the body and the castle nut for the compression ring. Thick rubber compressing ring. Nice and solid, probably will outlast the house!

Leaks NOT from pipe or rubber gasket, but from outside from flange connection
Installed into brand new shower pan. It's leaking at the OUTSIDE threads where it extends under the floor, which means it did not seal to the pan or the gasket underneath didn't take. Every instruction was followed AND I put silicone between the bottom of the pan and the rubber gasket to ensure a seal, as I have always done. Never had an issue with any other drain except this one. Now I have to pull this out, bend and twist under the floor, and reinstall something else. Honestly, the gasketed design here is subpar as it really doesn't HOLD the pipe coming through it confidently. You can still wiggle it. I want that pipe SOLID. I'd much rather just solvent weld the pipe when I have access from the bottom.

Equal to name-brand drains
This brass drain is identical to more expensive name-brands in every way. I like using this style for shower bases made of plastic or fiberglass so that I don't need to cut an access hole below to fit the trap. I'll dry fit the drain and base, measure or mark the pipe location, and then get set up for easy assembly. This works by installing the housing on the shower base, and I use clear silicone in addition to the provided rubber gasket. You then drop the base and drain housing on top of the pre-positioned pipe. Then you push the rubber "doughnut" around the pipe and use the brass ring to force the doughnut tight. You may also choose to use silicone as a lubricant and sealant for the doughnuts. I would not recommend using the provided spanner tool to tighten the ring because it is easily lost down the drain. A tapped screwdriver works just fine.
