Q: how long does battery last if not triggered but set every night?

6 months for the alarm. The remote battery is still good after 6 months.

Q: How loud is this. Would you hear it inside a closed windowed house a 6 feet away?

It is supposed to be around 113db, but every now and then, I pull out my remote to arm/disarm it and I am "lucky" to hear it activate from about 10 feet away. It has become a running joke for some "brain dead" individuals to often knock it over on its side! The bad actors don't appear to be bothered by the racket, but I have run into one person who takes his own chances setting it back upright. He told me that he worried that he might be hassled by the police for doing the right thing! I just told him Thank You to him! Park it as close to your home as you can, be sure to have open windows! Was this of any use for you? YW.

Sure, but you do not worry about it. The battery is updated. it can be used for a long time An alarm need 3 AAA alkaline batteries ( included ) standby for 6-10 months A remote need a CR2032 button battery ( included ) standby for over 1 year.
