Q: Can I use this to sharpen my Schrade SCHF10? Also, how long do these sharpeners last?

The Schf10 is made of 1095 high carbon steel so its edge will last longer due to the hardness. So yes I would rather make a few passes on a diamond sharpener as oppossed to dozens of passes on an oil stone. Both work. I like to finsh up the edge with oil stones. I've only had my DMT for a few months but it still takes off metal quikly. I imagine they will last a few years with moderate use.

From the description above: "Use the coarse diamond surface (45 micron / 325 mesh) to quickly and easily restore a neglected edge, or take advantage of the fine diamond surface (25 micron / 600 mesh) to get that razor sharp edge." "Mesh" is a different measure than grit but for practical purposes the numbers are the same. (325 mesh approximately = 325 grit.)

Q: can I flatten 8000 grit wet stone on this?

I'd wouldn't but you can if you use a coarse grit and are affluent enough to spend the money every. If you flatten stones often plan on buying a new one every 2-3 yrs.
