Richell Freestanding Pet Gate, Large, Origami White

We recently got a new puppy and I bought a folding wooden fence to go across our wide kitchen opening. But she could easily push the fence out far enought to make an opening and escape so I could not keep her corralled and was having a tough time getting anything done. This gate is PERFECT. The adjustable size worked for our 58 inch kitchen entrance. It came quickly. Packaging was excellent and everthing was in order to install. Instructions were really clear and assembly took no time.

We have used this gate for a year now. It is still in great shape except for normal wear and tear of every day use, such as scuff marks that have appeared due to moving it from one doorway to another. I love the fact that it is a free-standing gate. Although it is free-standing it is very sturdy. My dogs are only 13 and 12 pounds each, but when they are both standing and leaning on it, it is still not moving. It does not slide on the tile floor and it does not lean. Another plus for this gate is the fact that when it is not in use it stores flat. The 'legs' fold in and you can lean it against the wall or slide it under the bed for storage. Another great thing is that it fits different size doorways. We use it in a regular size doorway and also in a dining room opening that used to have double doors. It is 20 inches tall, which means both pups can jump over the top if they really want too. They stand 10 inches tall. The point is to train them not to jump over the gate. I have one who will not jump over it for anything, and the baby who jumps over at almost any opportunity. More training is in order for her, lol The gate is just a barrier to be used to let them know an area is off limits. If you need a definite barrier for your dog you may want to get a taller gate. I don't know if this brand has a taller one, but if so, I would highly recommend it. The quality is great and it fits into a room just like a piece of furniture.**Update: August 13, 2014Just wanted to add an update for this product. We are still using the pet gate. It is still in great shape, sturdy, works properly, and the wood is still looking great. We have since ordered an additional pet gate of another style from the same company that is also just as well made.**Update: February 27, 2015Just another update for this pet gate. We are still using this pet gate. Although we are not using this one on a daily basis anymore, we do use it to block off rooms at different times when needed. We use a larger pet gate from the same company that has a door we can walk through, and we do use that one every single day. The wood on this gate is still in great shape, the screws are still sturdy and everything is in working order. Yes, our pups can jump over this gate, and they are only 10 pounds, but a gate is only a barrier. However, they don't jump over because they know that when the gate it up they are to stay on the other side.. You also have to consider training along with any gate you purchase. This company has great pet gates and I would buy another from them in the future if I decide I need one for another are of our house.

The media could not be loaded. 1) It is a really pretty gate. It is very stylish and doesn’t obstruct your view from room to room.2) It is very stable for our circumstances. We have a Puggle dog that is almost 17 years old so we don’t have to worry about her jumping over it. With our particular set up she can’t even push it out of the way because one side is against cabinetry. If you have a larger or more energetic dog they may be able to jump over this.3) Our cats can easily jump over it and this lets them access their food and litter while keeping the dog away.4) My family can easily walk over this. I was looking for a shorter gate so that we wouldn’t have to constantly move it out of the way to go from room to room. This is perfect. I would have liked something even a smidge shorter for even easier walk-over-ability, but this is still very easy to cross over. However, a child or shorter person might find it a little more difficult.We’ve had it for about a week and I just keep smiling every time I pass by it because I just love the look and our house doesn’t look as junky now as we used to have holiday bins and a smaller tool box blocking the area. It just looked a mess previously and now the house just feels cleaner and more functional with this gate.

This is a very sturdy gate for small dogs and looks really nice. I had other free standing gates that my 9 lb cavapoo could move and get through. She can’t move this one and the side panels can be locked with a screw to not move or allowed to swing open/close. Assembly was easy and quick - 2 screws depending on the size you want. I just wish you can change the side without having to use a screw driver each time.
