Q: Does it have a backlight?

No, it doesn't. Other than that, it's a great watch!

Q: How does this come packaged? Does it come in a case with casio instruction booklet?

I got the instruction manual, but I don't remember about the packaging for certain. More than 75% likely it came in the Casio box. I have this exact watch in black plastic so I would not have paid much attention to either the package or the instructions. Its very functional, resilient and useful

Q: When you are using the countdown timers at the top of the watch, does it show the the amount of time left on the timer or does it show the current time?

You hit the top right button once for 1 minute, twice for 3 minutes, 3 times for 5 minutes, etc as shown by the lines. The line will blink showing you are in that section if time. The digital clock continues as usual.
