Worked on one of my weak azaleas
I have some mini azaleas in a relatively new landscaping and this Spring they did not bloom. They looked pretty sad, leaves were not lush and no blooms.I poked in a few of these "spikes." It was not easy to get them in; they are less like spikes and more like large capsules, not pointed on either end, just kind of oval like a really huge "caplet". I managed to poke some in when the soil was soft after a rain.A month later I noticed new leafing and then late in the summer, one azalea bloomed--out of season to be sure, but it seems it was waiting for needed nutrients. (The other still looks kind of weak and did nothing.) So perhaps this Fall I'll add a few more; I only gave one or two to each plant and where the weaker plant is, there are a lot of old roots from a tree that was removed, so that soil has to be pretty poor.Based on this "experiment" I'd say for azaleas, these are very effective and a must-have for any garden with poor soil, as mine has. This package is good for a few large plants and is only needed yearly so a decent value.

we (my kids, plants and I) like 'em!
Fast delivery. No damage noted to the package or the spikes. They are easy to use. There is a little plastic cap included that goes on the spike before you hammer it into the ground (which you soften ahead of time, btw, by watering your plants). They are easy enough to use that my kids use them. They do what they are supposed to do. My plants seem to respond well to them. I have them on a subscribe and save.

Quality v. Value
I have used this product for years; been having a hard time finding it in the stores, so on-line I went.

A must for gardening
Years ago I found these on Amazon and ordered purely from the reviews. As a newer gardener, I had no idea what I was doing (and still don't, for a large part, lol), and thought to give these are try as my tomato plants weren't producing well. I now have a better understanding of fertilizer, but still add these to my plants every week. Each year, I have an abundance of fresh tomatoes, and a freezer full to process through the winter.

So Far a Fantastic Job of Fertilizing (but a sad story follows)
I had a lot of very healthy tomato plants in a raised bed in my back yard. They seemed to get especially healthy after I poked a bunch of these tomato fertilizer spikes in many places in the beds around the already adult plants. They appeared to become vibrant with good health, and were giving me a LOT of tomatoes. I had to go on vacation for a week and my now former best friend promised me that she would water my plants while I was away. She did not keep her promise and about 60% of my plants just died from thirst. 30% were sick but still alive, and only about 10% seemed rather unscathed by her lack of watering. I am upset because these plants are (were) my babies. Thank god I didn't leave my pets in her care. Anyway, I have spent a lot of time clearing out the dead plants and trimming up the sick ones, watered like mad and am about to poke a few more these spikes in and around my sickly and surviving plants and see if they revive back to health. The summer is not over yet and I'm not giving up.I'm not really expecting a miracle, but if my poor, abused plants recover then I will be ordering a case of these spikes. However, they really seem to do a great job of fertilizing. Before the tomato plant holocaust happened I had a few tomatoes with a touch of rot-bottom so I added a heaping amount of Epsom salt and watered it in thoroughly. I don't know how long these spikes actually fertilize the plants - I think the package said they would last for 3 months but I have my doubts about that so I'm adding more. I will update this review later for anyone interested in how things turn out with my plants.
