Perfect for young children!
I bought this book for my 3 year old daughter. She LOVES painting and these pages are perfect for her. The pages are thick enough to handle the water colors and I love the kid-friendly pictures. Most of the time, I cut the little paint strip off the page and let her paint with a set of Crayola watercolors, but she sometimes uses the built-in paints. They work great, are mess-free and gave her a chance to experiment with mixing colors without messing up her good box of paints. Highly recommend. We've gone through 2 of these books so far and I'm about to buy a third!

fun and very little mess
We bought these for our 4-year old. She loves that she is able to choose her own paint colors, and we love that the only thing that can be spilled (and has been) is a little cup of water to dip the brush in.We have bought several of these books and keep them on our daughter's wish list. She loves crafts, drawing, painting, etc., and now is getting old enough to get her own cup of water, select paint, etc., all by herself, which buys us some much-needed downtime to do things like wash dishes while we keep an eye on her. It's a good step toward painting with real paint--only much less messy.

Great self led activity
Must have for kids go help keep them busy. I love that each page comes with its own paint “set”. It’s easy to throw in the diaper bag and bring with you. Great for keeping little hands busy and keep them from touching everything else if you’re out!

Great for little ones!
I bought these for my young grandkids. They work well when little ones are not yet ready for regular watercolors.

This is a really fun and simple activity
I took these on a trip, and simply used the condiment cups at the restaurants for a water cup. Dip the brush in water, then swish the damp brush over the color cube, and it is pretty easy to keep clean. Two of these notepads kept my kids busy and happy. Of course, the two-year old sometimes wanted more of a particular color than he could get out of the color square, but overall, the idea of a fresh palette for each picture was fantastic and easy to manage. Very low mess and inexpensive activity. Please "like" this review if it was useful.

Worth the price!
Worked as intended. My almost 3 year old grandson enjoyed painting with this however, the paints run out quickly on each color... Luckely every page has their own set. Also, the painbrush it comes with is a bit flimsy. I still gave it 5 stars because the price is great at just about $5 so I can't really complain much... It was definitely worth the price!

paint not enough
I like the idea that the paint came on the paper but my three-year-old could not get enough paint to paint what he wanted. He was frustrated, so we just use them as coloring pages.

These Melissa and Doug paint with water books are very nice! My kids had received some as gifts for their birthday and enjoyed them so much we came looking for more here on Amazon! They are very nice quality with fun themes and pictures. I would recommend these to anyone looking for this kind of activity!
