Don't waste your money. I ordered this and it came all beat up, chips on 3 of the 4 edges, seems to be a very soft material and it was packaged horribly with some of the hardware missing as well. Tried to leave a review and they said they wouldn't accept it. I guess only positive reviews are accepted . But yes, it can be painted

Hi Sallie, Sorry for the confusion. It is as hard as any kind of plywood. It can be cut by a wood saw. Yes, you can drill holes for hanging. Vima
