Q: Why does the description say it's made in "america's heartland" (iowa) but then further down it says it's made in indonesia? very misleading!

I just received my bag and it indicates it is made from corn glucose from americas heartland with a star on Iowa. So I suspect it is in fact made in the US. It also indicates it is distributed out of California.

Q: Anybody know the generally accepted guidelines on how much to use per unit of other ingredients??

You use it similar to salt but generally don't sprinkle it on at the table. It's usually used before or during cooking when salt will be used. However how much you use is determined by your own taste similar to salt. Start with a little and add more as needed, may take some trial and error.

Q: Is it real? In Japan the Ajinomoto company makes it from seaweed, not corn glucose.

Every version of glutamate, be it calcium, potassium, magnesium etc all excite the same receptors though. While this product may be from corn glucose, it will have the exact same results of that from seaweed.
