Excellent Solution For Webcam Transfer To PC
I am not connected in any way to the developer of this Video-2-PC Transfer Kit. This is the first time I have ever tried using one of these video transfer kits.Prior to purchasing this kit, I had spent over a week of trying to transfer mini DV tapes from my Sony TRV33E to my Windows 11 PC using Sony's original firewire, USB streaming and just about everything else I could try without success, I found this 'Video-2-PC Transfer Kit. It did the job first time with perfect high quality results. Very impressive. This kit is more expensive than several other kits on amazon but this kit is of high quality and produces perfect results with clear, rock solid captures. It really is worth paying for this kind of quality and not the less expensive kits out there. The kit included cables to use with this device, necessary USB drivers, clear instructions and a support email address to contact the developer should any further issues arise and VHS video capture software. I used OBS studio on my Windows PC and the clear instructions supplied were needed for this.Very important is that anyone using this kit must have the original camcorder output cable supplied by the manufacturer, (in my case Sony), or, if this is lost, be able to acquire one matching it before using this kit. I'm sure this is the same for all video capture devices and not just this 'Video-2-PC' kit. From my experience, I would advice taking 10 to 15 minutes or so to read carefully the excellent instructions given and to follow these to the letter. This really is time worth spent and will result in perfect results first time.I highly recommend this video transfer kit and it came as a relief that it enabled me to download all my mini DV tapes to my Windows computer for both safe-keeping and editing.

A superb solution for digitizing analog video tapes
This review was edited from my first 2019 one on Jan 24 2021. This version reflects close to 2 years of good useI recently purchased this kit on Amazon and can give it my very best recommendation. I chose it due to reviews on Amazon and was duely rewarded! Once installed and when a few little irritating problems are solved (see below) it works like a breeze. Note already here! If you run into problems, both the installation guide and the Email Help System will assist you! I know because I tried it out!I have 200+ VHS video tapes in my library, many of which I would like to save to digital format, so my interest in owning a kit was very high. Quality VCR recorders are becoming increasingly rare to get and I wanted to use my superb deck to safegurd my valuable tapes. For those that have many videos and want them digitized, I emphatically recommend this VIDEO 2 PC solution over a commercial service. It would be both costly and in many ways more inconvenient. I tried this for a few tapes, and it works fine in a way. But with a full length VHS tape they normally have to "divide" the contents into two separate DVDs and they often cut in the middle of something. If instead you ask them to convert all to a single PC file, it can become so large that some Windows applications refuse to handle them. I also found that in some cases, there was "noise" in the resulting file which probably could have been avoided had you done the job yourself. The installation of the hardware and software proceeded without a hitch on a Win10 laptop. The first little problem arose when I wanted to capture a video. The capture driver did appear briefly in the Showbiz video program menu (and when looking in WIN Control Panel), but it could not be selected. I looked at the "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) sheet that comes with the package and thought the problem might be Windows needing permission to use cameras and microphones. Not so, this was already enabled. I battled on for some time and finally tried to disable my AVAST virus software temporarily. The FAQ says this normally is not needed. For me it was. Somewhere in the process AVAST came up asking me if I wished to allow Video 2-PC and Showbiz to do their jobs. I said "Yes to all", and then all worked! This means I can use the package with the Virus software engaged.Another irritating problem was that sometimes during capture the process stopped with a "Copy Protected video" message. Haha Also this the company have foreseen. You need to edit the "Capture.ini" file and insert an extra command line. This was clearly explained in the FAQ sheet and it took my only 5-10 min to do this. Just follow the procedure in every detail, and Bob's your Uncle! You do not even need a Win restart.Following that, all worked without problems. The software is easy to use and produces videos that are as good as when the VHS tape is played on a good recorder. I am confident no commercial service can do better and I have worked professionally as a biologists with editing videos both on VCR systems and computers for many years.I NEED TO ADD that early in the installation process, when meeting the first problem, I e-mailed the producers using their Help Email System (this was few minutes was before I solved the "virus protection problem" on my own). I received a kind and helpful reply already the next morning although this was during a week-end! So, should you encounter problems, rest assured that this company will indeed provide quick and useful assistance. Do not be scared away by the little problems I list above. Capturing analogue videos to PC is never a very simple task as you are trying to connect two very different worlds! It was a lither bothersome, but it all worked out nicely and the result is a marvellous solution. Had I waited until the Help Email arrived, I might even have saved myself some trouble. The SHOWBIZ capture and editing software is not the most advanced you can find, but it suffices. If you want more powerful software, just capture your videos to file. Load them into another software and play around with that.Let me add here (in this edited version of my first review) that I have now usde the equipment for close to two years with success. I can RECOMMEND that you use a nother Video capture and Editing Software than than what comes with the package. There are many very good ones on the market and in fact some good ones for free. I use POWERDIRECTOR which is very powerful and the software will recognize the grabber hardware as it should. So no problems there. But for those that want an "easy go", just use the included SHOWBIZ.One final note: Here in denmark many people subscribe to a TV supply over the net or the telephone system. You get a BOX that includes a hatrddisk and thus you are free to "record and save" the programs you have available. But, Alas, due to copyright those files are "locked" in the box and cannot be copied. Only output to the TV. But then! The Box has both HDMI and SCART output. Hahaha! So I am sometimes for serials etc that cannot easily be purchased commercially just output them over SCART form the BOX and into the Video-2-PC grabber and hence to the pC. It works like a breeze and by at the same time inputting the signal from the "box" to the TV I can on the TV screen monitor what is also shown on the little grabber window on the PC. Sure! I do this round a bout, because by this I first make something digital into analog and then balc again. So I use it only when absolutely needed, but it is a nice feature to have for me.I emphatically recommend this cheap but Powerful system to anybody with a real need to digitize VHS videos into high quality files or DVDs. Be prepared to use a little time with installation, that is all.Jens Hoeg, Denmark

Works well - Cheap way to convert old format videos to DVD / MP4
This product works well. I converted a raft of old family videos to digital formats using it. I was able to connect a standard VCR player and an old hi8 camcorder via the device straight into the laptop using the ArcSoft software in the bundle. There are enough cables for most occasions I would have thought. The ArcSoft software may look a bit old-fashioned these days but I don’t mind that because it speaks to me of something very tried and very tested. You can perform some basic editing if you require. The process is Capture (your video footage); Edit (the footage into a storyboard); Produce (write storyboard to a DVD or MP4 file). When you capture your films using the software it creates MPEG2 files initially. This is the format I chose to create DVDs to be played in a standard DVD player. Not all DVD players like RW discs though, so if it doesn’t work it may be that you haven’t done anything wrong. It’s worth checking this first, find out if your DVD doesn’t play RW Discs. These MPEG2 files can then be converted to MP4 files, again using ArcSoft. I then uploaded these mp4s to my cloud platform so they could be shared around the family (can highly recommend pCloud BTW).I was able to create DVDs for those in the family who don’t use the internet and mp4s for those who do. It is a very simple process once you are familiar with it. The instructions that come with it are very thorough but read them carefully and take your time. They are written to cover pretty much every eventuality – you can almost feel the writer’s pain as he draws upon the experiences of many questions asked over the years!! But he shares that with us to make this a very smooth experience. For the price, if you have the time to spare, you can’t go wrong. I would estimate that for every hour of footage you have on video allow 2-3 hours to convert, edit and produce. And remember, the quality of your VCR / camcorder is a critical factor. If yours isn’t great then invest in another one, they are cheap as chips these days.
