Excellent trap. Works every time
This product is great. We bought it to trap ferrel cats. Once set and primed with a bit of food it worked on every occasion. It’s strong enough to withstand the animal forcing its way out. I had this problem with an inferior trap that I had previously. My only regret is that I didn’t buy this model in the first place.

This cat trap did just that
Bought this trap as recently there have been 2 stray tom cats hanging around or house, we have 3 female cats but all are spayed but we didnt want to take any chances in case there was ever another female around we didnt want loads of kittens, anyway we caught one of the stray cats with ease in the cage, then proceeded to catch all 3 of our own cats as we tried to get cat no2, eventually got him as well so all in all caught 5 cats in 2 weeks with this cage, works a treat and well worth the money as we tried other traps without success, as the trap is open at both ends it fools the cat into thinking it can enter one end and exit the other, 5/5 rating

It works!
We have 4 or 5 feral cats that attack our two pets. The first few nights were unsuccessful, a fish head and a pork bone were taken without tripping the doors. Then I attached the bait by cotton to the balance plate and bingo ! got one.It seems important to place the trap in a 'walking route'. Handling the cage with a snarling cat in can be worrying, the cat ran up and down, disturbing the balance. I think two handles, one at each end, would make the trap easier to carry with a snarling cat inside. I was wearing motorbike gauntlets but was still nervous.I set it up by first placing the bait on the plate and securing it by cotton . Then I balanced the plate and finally placed the two doors in position. Then very carefully placed it on the 'cat run'I'd tried other traps without success, this one works3 or 4 more of the nasties to go!

Trapped the big ferral cat
I'd never seen or used a trap like this before, despite the instructions only being in German (and I not speaking German) I still found it incredibly easy to set up. The trick is to load up the doors at each end first (or just the one end if you'd rather) then line up the food plate control with the door control (basically moving two bits of metal to rest on each other - v easy honest) and then while still holding them together to have the trap in the position / place you want and then put the food on the plate inside (note - if you have short arms, like me, then you may need to put the food through the top onto the plate) then when that is on the plate, carefully let go of the two metal rods/controls/ sticks and the trap is baited. It does make a oad bang when the doors are released but due to the length of the trap the animal cannot escape.I caught the big black feral cat (Oscar) who for several months had evaded other traps. This one has then benefit is that the cat/animal can see a way out of the trap as they enter into it so may be less cautious about this one than others. Good luck.

Finally caught the feral cat
It was great to finally catch a feral cat we wanted to neuter. Others we tried were to clumpsy and off putting, but this one was great. We put it out for a week first with a little mat over the middle shelf /trap section in the bottom tray to cover it, and left both doors open. The cat actually started sleeping in and it rushed to see for any treats we left inside. On the day we planned the trap, we left the little mat in there still over the middle shelf/trap section and just set the doors to drop on contact. In went a treat (prawns - which she loves) and hey presto, the doors shut and she was trapped. She was a little scared running up and down but we soon settled her and took her to the vet. The trap is long enough to give them a sense of tunnel so before we set it she used to go in and out from both sides, but when trying to carry it to the vet's it was a little clumpsy with only the one handle, 2 would have been much better. After we got her back from the vet we were advised to leave the trap out again for a while in case she needed to go back to the vet, so we did. We had to release her the same day she came home from the vet as she was a wild feral cat not used to handling and became quite distressed when we tried to keep her in the kitchen to recover. When we let her out and put the trap back out where it was originally, she actually went back in there to rest. The little thin mat over the middle section was a big plus and would recommend as it looks more inviting then the metal trap tray, but the fact that it is made of mesh is more inviting. Would definately recommend!

Poor packaging spoils product
Had to give this a 3 star the cage is OK and strong, the trip works well. BUT the packaging was very very poor, just thin corrugated card, the sliding bars were bent when it arrived as there was no protection for them and because its always awkward returning things I straightened them my self. I bought it to catch a feral cat which lives in our barn, its incredibly vicious and will attack if you go anywhere near it, hence it need relocating to protect our small children. Hope it works.

I don't feel comfortable using this mini-guillotine
Yeah I bought this to trap feral cats in my area having had to give back the one I was loaned from cats protection. I wanted a cheap alternative to ones I found successful and the reviews here seemed very good & well, when I got around to actually trying it out I could not in good conscience put it outside for animals to wander into. Not only is the mechanism hard to set, it drops like a guillotine when triggered, it hurt my hand coming down just softly trying to test it & just out of curiousity I set an apple underneath it.The apple was almost cut clean in half from the force it fell, heaven forbid that came down on a kitten's skull or something. I have no idea what to do with this huge death trap in my house now.
