very detailed and extensive book on time pieces and time keeping.Introdcution very interesting on the concept of time.

OK was looking forward to reading this, and it started really well with and explanation of the basics of time time zones and how it relat3s to the the earth's orbit. All of that was actually mire useful than I thought. The first section in repairs delt with clocks - which seamed reasonable as an understanding of the basics is always useful however that started around page 12 with comments like scribe a line between the locking and warning gears, with no explanation what they are. With a little research I found out myself - but perhaps not a book for a complete novice?

This book is not very useful as a watch repair guide for beginners. Around 1/3 is about clocks, 1/3 about the background and theory of horology, and a lot of the watch stuff covers complicated repairs that a beginner would never attempt. It has about 10 pages of useful stuff on watches for beginners. That said, it is quite interesting and generally informative.

Easy to read and follow steps ideal for the beginners horological steps

The author takes a while to get to the point, but he when he does, he's informative.

The book is slow and starts throwing detailed terminology at you straight away with no explanation. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm reluctant to continue as it's hard going and I have learned far more from watching YouTube.
