Is this more of a paste or a liquid? I’m looking for a paste that I can apply and leave to soak and not run all over the place like oils.

Yes, this is a paste designed specifically for easy application without run off. It works best when applied to absorb overnight. I hope this helps.

This stuff is great and is a food grade so that you can use it on chopping blocks, wooden utensils, etc. I am not sure that I would "waste" it on a table that doesn't require food grade. It also leaves a little bit of a film, so there is that to consider. Although maybe the residual is the same as using a wood paste wax; I'm not sure.

Does this work on all forms of wooden tools?

Yes, this will work to condition any type of wood. Bamboo, maple, cherry, etc.
