FiltoSmart Thermo 200 External Aquarium Filter - Oase

Nice quiet filter and love the idea of not having the heater in tank although I have to set it at a higher temp to get the desired temp

Quiet and easy to clean

I have had this for over a month now and I cant return it and I am really not impressed. I continually hear water dripping inside the cannister, for its size it is very noisey and the vibrations can be heard in the room below the filter. If anyone can offer assistance it would be appreciated, currently it is sat on a cushion.

I owned Fluval canisters for more than 10 years, this time I had to change the filter and I decided to go with the FiltoSmart Thermo just because removing the heating system from the tank would have been nice for the look of the tank and safer for the fish.However, the canister material is way less sturdy than Fluval, and the pipe connection system is garbage, I haven't cleaned it yet just because cleaning the canister would be a pain in the ***, and there is no way to lock water in the pipes to then safely remove the canister and clean the inside, you have to dismount everything keeping in mind the pipes contain water.The pump noise is way more than the pumps used in the Fluval 07 seriesThe PVC pipes are extremely hard to manage and are so thick that it's even difficult to position them inside a cabinet.Long story short: Oase FiltoSmart didn't impress me and the pain you gonna get owning one of these is not worth the gain of having a thermostat inside the canister.I wish I knew it before buying it.

I really like this filter system. It's doing a great job of cleaning my aqurium water. My tank has been running for 12 days now and the water is crystal clear. Just a quiet hum can be heard and im very happy with that ! No heater hanging in the background and with the filter tucked into the cabinet it allows much better viewing of your underwater world 👍!!

Faulty on arrival, replacement filter also faulty with the exact same issue. Looks a good filter but I never managed to set it up as the hose connector is meant to twist and unlock. The connector on mine is stuck no matter what it won’t come off, this was confirmed by the seller upon return. Same issue with the replacement it’s stuck fast. Check on the web as there are numerous reports of this happening. I approached the manufacturer who basically said it’s not our issue it’s the seller. Really frustrating and disappointing service from the manufacturer. Do not buy this filter.

Previously purchased a Finest filters 200l which was a disaster and short circuited both itself and my heater.This was relatively easy to install, although unlike most of the other models I have purchased required you to add some of the media. I followed the instructions and filled up the filter and then turned it on, it self primed and just worked, I waited 5 minutes for any remaining air to be expelled and then plugged in the heater (it has a separate plug) and job finished. To clean it out all you need to do is untwist the inlet and outlet connector - so not sure what other people find difficult.
