Good but no Cigar TBH
GITS gets an update, well in this case as it's a prequel to the films & 1st & 2nd GiG TV stuff. It's very watchable if your a Ghost in the shell fan but might not be to everyone's tastes.Obviously watch Arise 1 + 2 before watching this double disc of parts 3 + 4...Therrs a TV type spin off of the 4 part Arise story & it's called "Alternative Architecture" & is in smaller episodes but in a mixed up order so doesn't really make any sense IMHO so I would avoid that altogether unless you are such a hardcore GITS SUPERFAN that you really must own it.Overall I'm reviewing this taking into account it's a 4 parter (granted this is only part 3+4 here) as a whole.I quite liked the prequel idea of how the Major came to being, who she was before that & the way things played out so that the birth of the whole Section 9 GITS team was born/ formed etc...It definitely wasn't as good as the 1st GITS Film or 1st & 2nd GiG IMHO as the plotlines & just the over all GFX just wasn't as engaging I found or maybe it was because the original stuff had set the bar so high when it was released many yrs ago now ;)I would definitely recommend this don't get me wrong it's a good watch & a fine prequel but I was left with the feeling of there was definitely something missing to give it that "Must See" type of review, but it's just my opinion.Very enjoyable to step back into the Cyber world of another Ghost in the shell experience :)

Ghost In The Shell Arise: Borders 3 & 4.
Yes, Ghost In The Shell Arise Borders 3 & 4 met my expectations. It maintains the quality, tone and style of Borders parts 1 & 2, so if you've seen them, you'll know what to expect. If you haven't you could still jump right in on these two and follow the plot (as much as it is possible to follow the plots of any G-I-T-S offering), but as stand alone entertainment they rate less highly than as they do as part of an overall product line.Borders depicts Ghost In The Shell: The Early Years, how Motoko Kusanagi got her crew together and became Section 9's A-Team. In this it is pretty much part of the Stand Alone Complex version of Ghost. Long term devotees of the series - which these films are surely aimed at - might be irritated that history and characters have in some cases been rewritten from what was stated in episodes of Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig. (More so in Borders 1 & 2 than 3 & 4.) The same people may equally be disappointed or pleased by past Ghost motifs recurring - Major Kusanagi jumping on top of a robo-tank and shredding her own prosthetic arm tearing open an access panel for instance. All in all I don't regret shelling out the cash for these discs. Praise indeed!

and what Aramaki looked like before his hair went white
You're either into GitS or not. This is for those of us that are. Interesting to see how the character relationships built up, and what Aramaki looked like before his hair went white.
