As far as I can tell, and we've just tried, the answer is no!

Q: Is this laptop backpack truly waterproof?

No its not got caught in a light shower of rain and now all my paperwork is ruined. I'm so glad I didn't have a laptop in there or I would be claiming repair costs back from the seller.

Q: If I put a banana in the lunch box section, what's stopping the weight from the items above pushing down in it?

Nothing. Soft food can easily be smashed from the weight above.
