Alfred's Basic Piano Library Lesson Book Complete, Bk 2 & 3: For the Late Beginner

for pupils who are beginning to play the piano this series of books are good. I have been teaching for over 30 years, and only in the last 5 years have taught, using them. The print is larger that normal, there are illustrations, the progression is steady, and from the first book get pupils familiar with the bass clef as well as the treble. Although the books start with the middle C position, they quickly move on to other positions too, so that pupils do not have a major shift when starting the bass clef..

The Alfred Courses are, I think, the best for all students. For nearly 10 years I have used Alfred Prep Course for under 6, the Alfred Basic Course for age 6 - 10 and this Complete Course combined with the Masterwork Classic graded books for older beginners and adults and find it the best. Easy stages, very clear print and explanations of everything needed with fun tunes too. The Alfred Adult series I have found goes too fast for the average adult beginner.

Pretty good and challenging for my 8 year old who is still a beginner but has been playing for 2 years.

Just the book required for my daughter's music lessons - useful to be able to be able to "look inside".

Which is exactly what we wanted :)

The Basic Piano series by Alfred's is great for my piano students. The Basic moves along at a fairly good pace and is strong on music theory. What I love about this book is it combines lesson book 2 and 3, (in order), so the one book lasts my students longer. I also use the notespellers with these books to make sure the music theory is covered. I highly recommend these for students who are younger, (from 6 up), to follow along in this series. As it progresses, the pieces become more challenging and are super for teaching piano without leaving anything out. Larger print, easy to read & learn. I'm on the second level of the series & find the notations are more clearly explained than other books I have tried.
