Good for espresso
We purchased this grinder because the place we purchase coffee from in the UK (squaremilecoffee.com) recommends it. This is the American counterpart. We have a Breville espresso machine that grinds, but like to mix up our coffee choices, so an additional grinder is great to have. We have it set on 10 for espresso grounds and measure 17g-18g for double espresso, light roast grounds. Purchased in Nov 2024, it has been a champ. Love the auto shutoff-no babysitting! While it is noisy, it is still quieter than the Breville espresso machine when grinding. 4 months in and no regrets. If that changes, I will definitely update.

Amazing for filter coffee, but questionable longevity
At this price point this 58mm flat burr grinder is exfellent for filter and pour over coffee. The grinder is a little slow but that isn’t a problem. I hit the button and then measure out water and get a paper filter for my Wilfa drip brewer (which is a 5/5 product). The grinder auto stops when the last bean is ground so that helps not having to babysit it until it finishes.I dialed it in for the Wilfa brewer over a few weeks and I keep it at 25 grind setting for everyday use. For cold brew between 32 and 38 works well. For aeropress concentrated output for lattes I use a 12. I can’t comment on grinding for espresso as I don’t make that at home. I’d say this is more for filter coffee given my research. The heavy all metal construction stands out vs something like the Fellow Opus which is all plastic. The Opus is quieter and has a 30 second increments of grind time. A benefit which I will get to later. For the hopper, it’s decent. I do 100g batches until I get 300 grams of cold brew ground coffee for a big batch for the week. Just don’t overload it as the container that catches is only so large.I bought this in March 2024 and by November 2024 the grinder rumbles and vibrates when it grinds and is much louder. Additionally the auto stop feature no long works. I would prefer to just have an auto 30 seconds. I measured the decibles and it is 77 currently vs the new Opus at 66. Decibels aren’t linear so this is a noticeable difference. I don’t know what the Wilfa was before it developed problems but probably around 70 if I had to guess.I have emailed Ladera for a warranty claim and will update the review later. I also found a Reddit forum with many complaining of the same rumble noise and the work around which is installing a new belt and if needed 3d printing the pulley (if you run it too long in the rumble like state). The taste of this beats the Opus (sweeter and more balanced) but I am disappointed at what looks like a product that looks unlikely to last.

Significant improvement to coffee flavor!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out how much this grinder improved the flavor of my coffee. I was previously using a high quality conical burr grinder with my Technivorm coffee maker. I did a side-by-side comparison using the same beans and the flavor improvement was significant. It is a bit more work to use this grinder since I now have to weight beans for each brew but I find the effort is more than worth it.

Great looking grinder
Works great, easily adjustable. Very cool adjustment mechanism. Pretty quiet, great upgrade from a blade grinder.

Takes a bit longer to grind but does great job for this price level
I love the minimalist look and the simplicity. It does a great job for this price level. I only do pour-over so I don't need super fine grind setting. If you only do espresso, this might not be the right grinder for you.A few things to consider before you decide if this is the right product for you. First, it's slow. I mean it's really slow. However, it's slow by design. It's because Tim Wendelboe (the coffee champion who collaborate with Wilfa to build this grinder) believes the slower grinder can help bring out the overall coffee flavor as it doesn't product as much heat during grinding. Second, it takes a bit of work to get the coffee ground from the bin due to static issue especially for light roast coffee. I've already incorporated the coffee brushing step into my daily workflow so this doesn't bother me much but it's worth noting. Last, I wish Lardera didn't print their logo on the machine. It would've been perfect without that logo but that's just my personal preference. In short, if you're do pour-over only and want a reliable machine, you won't regret getting the Uniform.
