Economical Yet Functional
This is not a professional quality tool and is limited on the min/max width. It's an economical tool that does what it's supposed to do. It doesn't lock, strictly speaking, but the adjustment wheel is firm enough. It comes with 10-15 replacement leads. Comically, two of the three little vials containing lead were empty and their contents were rolling around in the little bag. One of them still had the cap on it, so I have to think the person packing it was all out of effs to give that day and just dumped the required number of parts in the bag instead of trying to fix it.Two steel tip replacements, two little tightening wheel replacements and strangely no little screw replacements. A mustache sticker and a hand-written thank you note. It's stable enough for what I need to use it for. Doesn't have as much flex as some folks have reported. But if you're looking for a tool with tight tolerances and high production value for architecture or engineering use, go spend $100 - 200+ on a different product.

Mr Pen compass kit
The reviews I saw for this compass were mostly good, and I agree. It is solidly built and easy to use. I very much like the 4" size because it does everything I need and is comfortable to handle. This is the first compass that I used that uses an inbuilt 2mm lead, and it works well, but I think I prefer a mechanical pencil. The only real criticism I have is with the knobs that tighten down the pointer and the lead. They are small and difficult to handle, they don't always hold the pointer and lead securely. Two extra knobs were included with the set.Mr. Pen includes a notice with the kit that tells you if you EVER have an issue with the compass to contact them and they replace it or refund your order, no questions asked. That's a great lifetime warranty!

Does the job, but clearly a low-budget item
This compass does the job of a compass and does it very well. They even throw in some extra lead and a little storage pouch too! But while it does its job well, it doesn’t really scream “quality” at all.A big disappointment was when I first saw it and noticed it’s painted. Not anodized or coated, it’s paint and it’s obviously paint, with small lumps and uneven spots. In my opinion it doesn’t look much like the images other than in shape, with the color not looking close at all. The other point against: the adjustment screw is not centered between the arms. If set as wide as possible this is very obvious and is likely limiting the total amount of adjustment. It’s certainly not a professional-level product but then again it’s not a professional-level price either. It’ll draw a circle or an arc, help you measure things, and even scribe some things like I have, but it won’t win any awards for build quality.

Great For Graphic Design and Art Students
This compass is a great tool for Artists, Painters, UX/UI Designers, Graphic Designers, Illustrators, and art students to have in their tool kit. This compass helps to accurately draw shapes, such as the circles in my photos. I can draw individual circles and overlapping circles a lot faster and more accurately, with this tool. As a Graphic Design student, this compass makes drawing geometric shapes much easier. By using this compass, I feel more confident about the end result of my hand drawn pictures. By using this compass, I am able to present to my professor and to clients/customers art work-drawings, paintings, pictures that are worth to put on display to look at. The color rose gold is a unique color option, that is not available by the competitors. the rose gold color fits my girly personality. The metal is definitely hard. The pencil leads are easy to insert. The tubes for the lead and the clear carry case are all convenient for organization. The first photo shows 3 circles of different sizes. i had to test the maneuverability of the turn wheel. I had to test the quality of the pencil lead. I had to test the width from narrow to large, for drawing these circles. The turn wheel easily turns up/down or from left to right. (However, you perceive it.)The second photo shows, more accuracy of drawing the overlapping circles. i tried to keep the paint within each circle. Because each circle was painted a different color. I am more confident to complete and show my art work assignments for geometric shapes.I totally 100% recommend this compass drawing tool.

disappointing lead pieces
I do like how stiff and firm the settings are, so it doesn't slip and make a wider circle than you intended. BUT I was very disappointed with the tiny little pencil leads that come with the kit (it doesn't accommodate your own pens or pencils). They kept slipping down so that the pencil was much lower than the point of the compass, so I'd have to hold the compass at a diagonal while drawing circles b/c the lead slipped down too much to keep the compass even. This resulted in it slipping as I was drawing, which I did not expect, given how tight the metal part of the compass is. Would've been a much better design if it held a small pencil rather than just these tiny pieces of lead, which don't stay still.
