I trust Viltrox products. I have one of their 13mm autofocus lenses for my Fuji X-T3 and love it. Probably one of my favorite lenses. So when I was offered a Viltrox Sony style N battery, and a 970 at that, I jumped at it.I use Sony N style batteries for a lot of tasks when shooting video and I have a lot of 3rd part versions. I use them to run my Atomos Ninja V, some of my LED video lights if a power outlet isn't handy, and I even have an adapter and dummy battery for my X-T3 so I can run it for hours on an N style battery (the X-T3's battery is notoriously small, especially for video). None of my other N style batteries have charging capability built in to the battery, so this is new for me and I like it. Viltrox supplied an AC to USB adapter that provides 2 amps, so it would take about 7 hours to fully charge a flat 970 sized battery. But you can also charge it on a regular N style charger, and I have a nice rapid charge for that. But it's nice to have the option to just plug this battery into USB and charge it if I forgot my N charger or if all my N charger's slots are full.It also has a charge meter built onto the battery so you can see the charge level easily. My only suggestion here would have been to put it on any other face of the battery because where it is means you have to remove it from the device you're using it in to see the meter. Then again, most devices have their own battery meters so this isn't really a big deal.I really like this battery and will probably buy more of them when I'm in the market for more N style batteries.

This is a great battery kit that includes 18w charger, charging cable and 6600mah 48.88wh battery. I thought this battery would make Viltrox Sprite 15B last about 2 hours based on spec difference between it and Viltrox F550 battery it came with. Viltrox F550 battery weighs in at 107g and this F970 battery comes in at 295g. Based on my previous testing with the F550, I was able to power the same light for little over 40 minutes. Since this battery was rated for 3x the capacity, I figured it’d last about 2 hours. Well, after 2 hours, I was waiting to see how much longer it’d go. I waited, then waited some more… And waited even more… I’m not sure if my F550 battery is an underachiever (I think it actually performs in line to its specs) or if this is an overachieving battery but this battery powered the light for whopping 3 hours and 30 minutes. Way more than I expected to. I thought it was a fluke, so I charged it overnight and left the light on while I worked around the hour and It lasted over 3 and a half hours. Very impressive battery that can power portable lights or cameras for a very long time. Highly recommended!

I have been slowly transition my old batteries to batteries with USB-C port built in. I really love how the new batteries with USB-C, makes charging so much easier. No extra chargers needed, all I need just an USB-C charger, and all my different batteries can use it to charge. This save a lot of spaces, and time, when I am shooting on location, or traveling. Viltrox battery seems to be high quality so far, I can easily get a few hours of use with this battery on an external monitor. To fully charge it, it takes about 2 to 3 hours or so. One of the feature I really liked on this battery, there is a power indicator. It shows you how much power is left on the battery, when the button is pressed. There are 4 small lights, each represent 25% of the power. So I know exactly when the battery needs to be charged. Great design and value.

I really like this NP-970. It has a built in charger so you don't need to use an external charger to charge this battery. You just plug in one end of a USB C cable to this battery and the other end into an outlet. While charging it has four blue leds to show the charging levels. When in use there is a button next to the four leds you push to shiw your remaining battery power. I weighed this Viltrox NP-970 battery to my other NP-970 battery and the weight is comparable meaning it should provide a very long running time. Typically the heavier the battery the more juice it will provide. This is a pretty impressive battery. I've provided a shot comparing the different sizes to better illustrate just how big it is. So far it has fit everything I've hooked it up to, (a ring light and a video monitor). I love that it comes with a power brick and cable for charging. One thing that I noticed while comparing this with my other NP batteries is that it doesn't have the metal tabs on the bottom. Not sure exactly what those are for on the others. I thought it might be for charging, but this hooks up to my NP charger just fine. Speaking of charging, I also appreciate the power level status lights on the bottom. Overall, this seems to be a good addition to my collection of backups.
