Finally got a standing desk, glad I chose this one.
Been thinking of getting a standing desk for a while, and with working at home for the last 2 years I finally bit the bullet (who would have thought I'd get exhausted sitting at a desk). After reading the reviews I made my decision based on:1) Ease of Setup2) Reliability3) Quality4) PriceThe first thing I looked at was price, Vari is not cheap by any means so I skipped the desk and looked at the cheaper ones. These were plagued by problems with reliability, quality and difficulty of setup (i.e. pre drilled holes not aligning). I then placed Vari back on the list and I took a chance, I happened to have some Amazon credits that I was able to apply to the desk so I did. Before I continue, I should point out you'll be buying directly from Vari so returns are a little different. Here's how Vari stacked up to my purchase criteria.1) Ease of setup: Vari claims a 5 minute setup...- I setup the desk on my own, it took me 30 minutes. I'll admit I was a bit unorganized, I didn't presort anything and just read the instructions, and pulled the pieces out as I needed. I was able to flip the desk to the upright position (in a cramped space) all by myself ... so 30 Minutes isn't too bad. All tools are provided (although I used my own special tool that fits in "tight" spaces so it made it easier to tight things up. wont make much of a different if you use it though). The install was easy, tighten things, attach things, plug things. Flip the desk to the upright position and you're ready to go.2) Reliability. Don't know how reliable it is, it's too new but this one comes with a 3 year warranty. I did notice if I wrapped the power cable too tight the desk might behave weird like not reaching the expected position. Loosing up/moving the power cable resolves this and it's been stable ever since I "organized" the cables.3) Quality: Parts looked ok, paint (powder coat looked good). The Plastic cover that covers the mechanism was alright..it did have what appears to be an indentation on it... but you're probably never going to see the cover. The finished product appear stable (there is a slight wobble if you extend it to the highest position but I think all desks will do this), it feels solid when using it4) Price, Even with the big "savings" it's maybe $100 more than the cheapest desk I saw, but I'd spend it for the quality and ease of installation...plus the 3 year warranty!Issues:I originally purchased the Vari Wire bucket (organizer)...It's not compatible with the essentials desk (you could get it to work if you don't mind drilling). And remember it's sold and shipped directly from Vari...so I couldn't drop it off at an Amazon drop-off site. Thankfully Vari offers free returns, and a UPS label. The return was dropped off on Monday evening (UPS) and by Wednesday morning I got an email letting me know they got the return and they'll be refunding the money. I haven't tried returning the entire desk, but I doubt that would be much fun.Wire organization:There really isn't any, fortunately I found a power strip holder, and wire clips. So the only wire's I see are the Power strips cord. (see pictures)

Great value, high quality and super easy assembly
This is my first dabble into standing desks. My biggest fear was the bad tolerances you often find on cheap furniture, making assembly a big pain. Well if you're at all worried about the assembly of this product; don't worry, it's SUPER EASY. The guide was prefect, and all holes/bolts lined up. They also labeled each bag of hardware with the bolt type, making it easy to ensure the proper hardware is selected. Lastly the hex wrenches included were not the typical cheapies found in most knock down furniture, but rather nicer ones that I will actually keep in my tool kit.The process took me 30 minutes and I was going slow and carefulThe desk itself is nice, just be sure that you want smaller desk. In my mind small desk=less clutter, and it works fine for the 27 inch monitor with wireless kb/mouse. We keep the tower down low on the floor and had to make sure there was adequate length in the monitor cable and monitor power supply. The motor is quick and quiet and seems like a quality unit. I'll check back in a year to report on durability.

Great product, fairly easy to assemble. Smooth operation. Table raises and lowers quicker than expected.

Solid Desk, but Many Compromises
I got this on significant sale, and at that price it was mostly worth it. I opted for this brand because I wanted a reputable company with a presence in the US in case I needed replacement parts down the road. The frame is well built and uses a much thicker gauge of metal than many of the other options on Amazon (look closely at pictures...the difference is significant). The quality of the welds is decent, but some places are spot welded, and I would have liked to have seen a little longer of a bead. Fit and finish of the frame is good, and the powder coating is nice.On the more critical side, the top is pretty poor. It looks very fake to me, and the split design is not great. It's totally functional, and I'm sure many folks will be fine with it. As a former woodworker, I'll totally admit to being a solid wood snob, but even relative to other laminate products I found it too be pretty underwhelming. I bought a solid wood top to replace it, and am much happier with that. The electronics and lift mechanism on this are also pretty basic (but totally functional). The table wobbles a little as it's going up and down, but thats likely just a quirk of the single motor design. In summary, I'm overall happy with the desk after replacing the top, especially since I got it on sale. There may be better options, but I was getting frustrated with all the off brand options. As long as you keep your expectations in check, this could be a great desk for you.

Stay Away!
This desk has a major design flaw. Because it uses a single motor riser it requires a shaft run from the motor on one side to a gear on the other. The shaft is coupled with the gear by a thin piece of plastic. I followed the assembly instructions to a “t” and the result was that plastic piece breaking, which made it impossible to raise or lower the desk evenly. I never even got to use the desk, the pictures you see are from the first time I attempted to raise the surface. Spend the extra money and get a dual motor desk. I went with Flexispot and could not be more pleased with it.
