Hi there - The maximum cushion height of our Arlo Bar Stool (22202/Brown) sits at 690 mm (~27"). The addition of the shallow curve and slight give of the foam cushion ensures this stool should serve all necessary purposes for any counter height applications.

Thank you for your inquiry. Ideally, countertops that are 36"-39" high should be using 24"-26" bar stools. So the 27" would be too high for your 36" countertops.
