My Search is Over
As crazy as it may sound, finding the right drinking cups for my kids has been challenging. Seems ridiculous right?! There are so many choices out there. In my attempts to find the “right one” I think I’ve tried most on the market to no avail. The ones I’ve brought have either fallen apart, broken too easily, the kids didn’t like them, they weren’t spill proof, or they weren’t cups the kids would continue using in a year or two. Finally my search is over!! I found Elk and Friends - and yes, they feel like true friends. This review is on the long end, but I have a lot to say about these fun cups.So this is not my first purchase from Elk and Friends. I recently purchased a couple sets of their 8oz glass cups and their 8oz stainless steel cups. WE LOVE THEM and the KIDS LOVE THEM!! They are the only cups they use now. The comment was from my oldest who wished the cups were a little larger. Fortunately, Elk and Friends was there for us again as they offer these cups in a 12oz version.A few notes about why we LOVE these cups – the 12oz as well as their 8oz cups:1. Eco friendly. Whenever possible we prefer to use glass and stainless for beverages and food. Also love their simple yet cute packaging.2. Versatile. Use them as cups or containers. Great for kids and adults. In addition to the straw lid these cups also come with a matching leak proof lid. These are awesome for turning your cup into a snack or food storage container. The lids also work with our other regular mouth mason jars. So we can use them in the freezer or fridge for our other food storage. I know it’s not important but I love having the fun colors for my mason jars. It makes my mundane duties more fun.3. Easy to replace glassware. Yes, glass is not indestructible but replacements glasses are easy to get. We have purchases other brands of glasses with silicone sleeves but the glass was thin and they all broke quickly. It’s been challenging to get replacements for these other brands, and honestly I don’t want to spend any more money on them because they will be broken before we really use them. This is not an issue with Elk and Friends mason jar cups. Mason jars are much more robust and much easier to find. Also, when used on the jar, the lids and sleeves provide protection. We have had 2 cups fall from about 36” height onto tile flooring - they both had their sleeves and lids on and neither of them broke, cracked or chipped. That is a huge win in my book.4. Fun colors and matching lids and straws. The kids love to mix and match lids and straws for fun combinations of colors.5. Well designed. I love the details that have gone into the design of these. The straws have built in stoppers so kids can’t yank the straw out of the cups. This can be a safety thing as much as a parent sanity helper. I received a bad eye injury when a kid yanked a plastic straw out of a cup which hit me in the eye. You know it’s bad when you can’t open your eye for a week and the optometrist says “Wow!” when they see the injury. I realize that the straw that come with these cups are silicone and much softer than plastic straw – so there is less chance of injuries – but it’s still a great feature to have the straw stopper. Also, these straws are tapered on the bottom to allow fluids to flow better. Brilliant! Note: The 12oz cups I ordered did not have straw stoppers like the straws that came with the 8oz cups. I passed on my request to the company and received a reply telling me that others have requested the same thing and that they are working on getting stoppers on the 12oz straw. This takes me to my next favorite note – Awesome customer service. They listen to customers.6. Awesome customer service. I have had no issues with any of my orders, but when I was wanted to order the 12oz cups, they were out. I reached out to Elk and Friends company to inquire about when the 12oz would be available. The owner responded very quickly, warmly yet professionally, and has kept me updated on the availability. I think we are friends now :) I have no doubt that if there was some fluke with any order, it would be promptly addressed, and the customer would be made better than whole. They have also gone the extra mile to follow up on my orders to make sure all was well. Who does that anymore?? Its companies like these I love supporting.7. They make baby food jars too. We bought some years back for making and freezing baby food. No babies now but we still use the little jars for a variety of things. They and the lids have held up perfectly over the years. These Elk and Friends cups have been a lifesaver for us - a true godsend. The kids love them, and we are so happy to find these perfect kids cups. These will be my new favorite item to buy for baby gifts. We don’t have any cons. These cups really have been that good for us. I read a review where someone took a star away because they aren’t leak proof. This has not been an issue for us at all - not even a concern. Yes, if the cup is full and on its side, liquid may leak out from the straw hole. That should be expected since that happens with pretty much every straw and lid situation. On top of that, these cups aren’t advertised as being leak proof with the straw lid so don’t let that deter you. The other lids without the holes have been leak proof for us.All in all, these cups have saved us countless spills and water and other messes. They are a little more expensive than buying cheap plastic cups, but they are healthier, more durable, and much more versatile. Plus they can be your forever cups. Definitely worth the money! My only regret is that I didn’t get these sooner. Learn from my mistakes and just go with these mason jar cups from Elk and Friends!!

Not to be dramatic, but…life changing
We regrettably got our children hooked on warm milk twice a day. This has involved microwaving milk in a mug and pouring it into a plastic kid cup with a straw. Four mug pours per day. Have you ever poured milk out of a mug? Messes every day, our dishwasher space was always occupied by mugs, and there were never any left for us. Plus, I felt guilty every day about the warm liquid in cheap plastic cups. But now. We can microwave the milk directly in these cups, and our lives have been changed. The seal around the straw hole isn’t 100% leak-proof, but our old ones weren’t either. We did end up getting the “mountain” sleeves instead of stars as pictured on the pink/lilac. Thankfully I did not show my kids the photos before purchasing, as we would have been sad about the lack of stars. :)

Less chance of shattering
I love these, just what I was looking for. These are a great size, I like the idea of glass, less chance of breaking. These kiddos love them , they have their own “color cup “.

I love these!
They are so beautiful and high quality. It’s an amazing feeling that I can trust my children drinking from them without all of the bad stuff. They do come a bit dirty, but they also inform you to wash them before use (of course). As far as leakproof, they definitely leak some. However, I bought separate stoppers and straw covers to prevent them from leaking. There were many reviews claiming they weren’t leakproof, so I prepared ahead of time. I got causal round stoppers and straw covers and they work perfectly for these. I definitely recommend.

Absolutely great alternative to plastic for my kids
My daughters (3.5 and 2) drink milk from their cups with straws about 3 times a day. We've been slowly phasing out as much plastic as we can as a family, and I was out to find the best alternative. Enter these Elk glass cups with straws. They are great quality, thick glass, nice silicone, and I love the colors! They're leak-proof, it can hold a good amount of volume. Though they're a bit heavier to hold, I think my girls got the hang of it.My only complaint is about the straw. On the silicone straw, there is a stopper bit that prevents the straw from being pulled out of the cup when the cup is closed. It's a great feature - but I just wished that the stopper was placed higher up on the straw. When you pull the straw all the way until the stopper hits, the bottom of the straw on the inside of the cup is about 1.5-2 inches from the bottom of the cup. It's not a huge deal, but I have to keep reminding my youngest to keep the straw down so she can get the liquid at the bottom. If the stopper was placed higher, preferably so that the bottom of the straw is always at the bottom of the cup, then this product would be perfect.I also wish there was a window cutout on the silicone so that you could see how much liquid is left in the cup. There are tiny triangle cutouts, but that doesn't really help. Would be nice if there was a vertical cutout so you could clearly see how much is left inside.

Quality
We like these. Only complaint is that I wish for the smaller(6oz) ones that the straws were longer.

Easy to wash and passed drop test
I was annoyed with the price of these but they have been my favorite cups for my kids so far so it’s totally worth the money! I’ve dropped them (yes me) from the top shelf of the fridge twice and they didn’t break. They are super easy to take apart and clean (love that I can throw the glass in the dishwasher) the trick to getting off the sleeve is to stick a finger in it and pull down a tiny bit then pull from the bottom and it comes right off no hassle! They don’t leak anywhere besides through the straw if knocked over and even then it’s hardly any spill.

These cups are great!
I like these cups, we have three toddlers & are trying to become a low toxin home. This was the best, leak proof option we've found. 4 stars because they still have plastic lids. But they're much better than other alternatives!
