Zoo Med Deluxe Collapsible Snake Hook

I use this hook for two of my young cornsnakes that do not like to be picked up by your hands (they will bite me) but as long as I pick them up with the hook they are fine. The end is not sharp or blunt and does not risk injuring the the snakes, and as of now works wonderfully with baby corn snakes and ones that are almost a year old. I cannot speak for how well it works on adults, as mine are all still young, but my largest is 2 feet and I can use this with her and have absolutely no problem with it. It is a great hook and I like that you can extend it as well and make it compact for storing

A good hook for handling smaller snakes which is what it is intended for. Would handle an adult corn or similar sized snake. I wouldn't trust the sturdiness on anything much bigger.

Very useful with snakes. However, after a lot of uses (and by uses I mean extension and retraction), it started to fall apart into several pieces. Overall, it’s useful, it’s nice and cheap, and it can fit in a pocket very well if desired.

Absolute garbage. Bought one and it broke just extending it. Like a fool I figured it was just a bad unit so I bought a second one. Same thing. Broke after a few extensions/ closures. Great concept…small collapsible when not in use… but ultimately useless as it literally falls apart from repeated use.

This snake hook works fine as long as you are not doing anything silly like trying to pick up a heavier snake with it. People really must use common sense and buy a snake hook that is appropriate for the size snake they are trying to use it with. The packaging clearly states it is for use with small snakes. When our baby gets a little bigger we may invest in a larger hook but this works fine for our 23" corn snake. It would be ridiculous trying to lift a large snake with it. Construction is lightweight because IT IS A LIGHTWEIGHT HOOK. We have had it for a couple of weeks and use it for its intended purpose and have not had a single problem (in the event we run into one I will update this).

Very fragile.
