Q: this set comes with alphabet punch set?

No, just with a numeric punch set. You're meant to punch the corresponding BIP39 code for your words, as per the following standard word list - see the following link https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt . It's less ambiguous than using an alphabet set, and ensures one more measure of security. If you prefer, you need to purchase a separate alphabet punch set.

Q: Isn't it possible to x-ray and see the numbers?

With proper X-ray equipment (as you might typically find in an NDT inspection lab) it would be possible to make out the marked words on the plates. X-ray machines that you find in airport security checkpoints are not finely adjustable to be able to easily make out word marks on the plates. If you desire protection from an attack vector involving NDT laboratory level X-ray you can insert a sheet of lead in between the plates during assembly. This will decrease x-ray image contrast making x-ray reading of the word marks much more difficult. For ultimate protection against X-ray you may consider enclosing the plates entirely within lead.

Q: How thick is the plate?

One plate is about 1.5mm thick (measured with a tape measure). The two plates stacked together are 3mm (0.12 inch)

We recommend using a plug-in style engraver, as this battery powered one may not be strong enough to engrave into titanium. An oscillating engraver (https://www.amazon.com/Dremel-290-01-Stroke-Engraver-Template/dp/B0000302YN) will work much better.
