Mann is the only filter to use for Euro cars.
When I purchased my first VW Beetle TDI back in 2001 - I quickly found out that VW prefers Mann Filters and Castrol Synthetic oil. I had been a fan of Castrol for years (using it exclusive in my Bronco II which had 275,000 miles).Filters are extremely important, especially on diesel engines since they often produce more soot due to the spontaneous combustion of the diesel and air due to the high pressure created in the diesel engine. The soot is a result of the fuel and air not having a perfect mixture and having some pockets that are a little "rich". While most soot does escape thru the exhaust, some gets trapped in the rings and therefore gets into the oil. As a result of this soot, you will see the color of your oil change much more rapidly on a diesel engine than on a gasoline based engine and too much soot will lead to excessive engine wear. While the newer TDI engines are MUCH cleaner and better than the old diesels - I doubt there will ever be an engine that can maintain a perfect mixture and therefore soot will always be a problem. Therefore it is extremely important to use high quality filters and change your oil according to the manufacturer's specs. While I put a lot of miles on my cars, I believe it is well worth following VW's specs to replace the oil and filter every 5K miles. I had 433,000 miles on my Beetle, before I fell asleep and totaled it. My "next" Beetle TDI now has 230K and she only gets Mann filters too. With Amazon's excellent price and Prime shipping I can get some of the lowest prices and still not have to stockpile filters. I know I can easily get the filter the same week I need to change my oil.

Consistent performance
I have been using WIX filters for years and still regard them as one of the best. Over the past couple of years I have also been using Mann filters and I can only say that the quality has also been very good. For most normal applications the Mann series of filters work admirably and I have never had any problems unlike others such as Fram, Purolator, and the other usual suspects you find in local stores. As I had mentioned for most normal applications I like the Mann series of products, but for high performance I do tend to lean towards WIX.For this filter I have a '04 Jetta TDI and I will only trust the two brands. Since Mann is easily attained locally for me as well as through Amazon, I am sticking with it. For my other cars... WIX is easier to get, go figure. Either way good filter and consistent quality unlike some other brands.

GREAT OIL FILTER
This type of filter made the oil change on my TDI the easiest oil change that I have ever done...It is well made and is OEM type soo it falls right into place. Comes with the o-ring for the filter as well as the cover plate. Great overall product!

Only the Best!
UPDATED May 2016............You can look at the rest, but if you have a TDI VW, then Mann is the only one out there. When filtering Diesel Oil, get the best. Of course, Amazon delivered it to my door on the day they said they would........... I have ordered these again and again. I tried a local Auto Parts Store brand, and it didn't fit correctly, so I went back to MANN. It's never let me down. Oh, and the two O Rings come with it.
