Q: can i use with speakers

Most speakers are passive (they get power from the Amp) but if yours need a 12v DC supply for some reason then I don’t see why not if wired correctly. All depends on the speakers you’re trying to use. More info required!

Q: This (150w version) does get almost too hot to touch under 130w load, is this normal ?

Afraid I`m not an electrician but from what i know you need to work out how many watts you need and then allow around 20% more to work out which transformer you need otherwise it may be overloaded and eventually stop working. If yours is getting very hot then i would guess it is very near its limit. I have 2 of these running around 100w each and i have had no problems with them getting hot. Hope this helps

Q: Well this run a3to 5 kw derv air heater

Do you mean something like a diesel fuelled Eberspacher/Planar/Webasto type of air heater, usually used in vehicles? (derv is another word for diesel in the UK) If so, the 3-5kw is the 'output' heat from the combustion of the diesel. They use relatively little electrical power for that heat output. You should check the serial plate on your heater, as they will usually state electric power consumption. The Eberspacher D5 air heater outputs 5.5kw of heat at max power, and only uses 80w of 12v electricity at the max power setting. So, this 12v 150w supply should give you plenty of headroom to power the D5 from mains power.

Q: What's the best cable to use to extend from this transformer to my lights (10m away)? I think I may have blown the cable I was using..

As your stating from the transformer, I'm assuming the 12V DC output (and not the mains input). After some really odd responses here, thought I'd jump in. You do not need 16mm cable ( suspect the person meant 16 wire gauge which is fine), running 12v over 10m will result in a small drop for sure, but it depends on what tolerance the lights are but I suspect you will not notice anything. All you need is a simple 2 core (1mm should be enough but if you want to be safe 1.5mm is plenty) flexible cable to deliver this, the transformer has short circuit protection but would do no harm to add a small fuse but remember you're not running mains 240v, but 12v so search for car fuses, should give you a clue and then based on your lights, select a suitable fuse.

Powers my 12v diesel heater

I connected this to my 12V Chinese diesel heater allowing me to convert my 240v to 12v and it powers it with no issues so far after a couple of weeks. Happy customer

Not 12V output

The output is 10.9 Volts dc.Other than that, the unit is small and neat.It looks well made.Shame it doesn't meet the stated output voltage.

Good Output Power...

I use this for powering 12v LED garden lamps, currently have 6 x 5W lamps and no issues with flickering or brightness. I will be adding more items in the future which is why I choose an 150W transformer.

Fire Hazard 🔥 ⚠️ Melted and Failed!

Bought at the end of October 2023 and has just stopped working with a strong smell of failure!!!Used to power 5m of white led 5050 strips and did get very hot when in operation.Would I buy again 🤨UPDATE!Bought a meanwell psu to replace this and when unplugging it from wall during the weekend to swap it out, found that the fuse holder had totally melted around the fuse. Once again, this was to power; to be exact, 4.6m of rgbw led strip and should not have failed like this. Changing the fuse has allowed it to carry on working but really can’t trust it now. Photos attached of the possible fire hazard 🔥 ⚠️
