Now I'm prepared for any type of potluck, without the worry!
I'm a good cook and baker, but every time I have to bring something to a get-together, I end up obsessing over what to bring. I fall back on the same old things so much that I get bored, even though people seem to enjoy what I bring. Recently, I have been asked to bring food for various organizations/activities--probably at least once a month. This book, which is under $20.00, is well worth the price. It has more than 200 recipes, and there is a very good variety of recipes, including vegetarian ones or ones that could be easily made vegetarian/vegan. That's important to me because I have a vegetarian daughter. It is great that the author provides information on how to increase the amount of servings if practical, and provides a time-line of how long to expect to take to make the dish. Her notes on "how to tote" the dishes are helpful, since getting the dish there intact is important. There are some recipes at the end of the book for gift-giving and they will be wonderful for Christmas gifts. I like that the author did all my trial-and-error work for me--testing what goes over well at a pot-luck, is fairly simply to make, and travels well. I want to buy more of her books after purchasing this one, because her recipes are "real life, without too many exotic ingredients, and food that people would actually eat.

Great cookbook
Obviously I haven't tried all the recipes, but most of them look like something I would like to try. These are practical, family-friendly recipes with ingredients that would be readily available to most people. I really like the suggestions for toting the dishes wherever you're planning to go. That has always been a problem for me - I make a dish and then wonder how I'm going to get it there safely. I liked this book so much that I ordered another of her cookbooks.

Should Be In Everyones House
Face it. We all have family parties, and all offer to bring "something".When we do, isn't it fantastic to have something different? new? easy?Something people ask about???Not only are the recipes perfect, the author tells how to tote them, store them, and keep them until the party. I found this useful for theparties I attend, and for entertaining. There are great ideas foran entire table of "party food" and anyone could do these recipes.I may not be a professional cook, but I was complimented all nighton the spinach ball recipe in the book. I brought a side of pizza sauce to dip them in, and people went nuts on them.Would give more stars if I could.

Something of a departure for "Cake Doctor" Ann Byrn
This cookbook marks a departure from Ann Byrn's mainstay of "cake doctor" -- books about improving on ready-mixes for better results. It's more like a regular cookbook, with the emphasis on party food -- buffets, picnics, church suppers and such. Not bad, but not up to the equal of her "Cake Doctor" series.

great all-round cookbook
I really like this cookbook and have had great luck with it. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you have to trudge through some more complicated recipes or recipes that have really expensive ingredients before you get to ones that are truly easy to make/travel with. However, this is such a small complaint because of the wealth of information and recipes in here! I would definitely recommend it. (For the same reason that I find it a little daunting, someone else might like it for that reason)

Recipes missing information
Was looking for something to augment the recipes I've used for years when I need to bring something to a meal at church. These do very well and I would have given the book 5 stars except the Taco Ring recipe in my e-book edition is missing half the instructions. There may be other recipes like that, I just haven't found any yet. The book still serves my purposes very well, just wish it were complete.

Like brand new.
This cook book is exactly what I wanted. I had loaned a copy from my library and liked it so well that I wanted my own book. The one I purchased 'used' was just like brand new and I am very happy with it. This is the way to buy books, and I am obtaining a nice selection of those that i want by first checking them out of my library and thus knowing exactly what I am buying. There are no disappointments that way.Amazon has a great web site and I buy my books and my kindle books all from it.

Must have cookbook!
I came across this book in a library this past summer when I was looking for ideas on what to take to a potluck dinner. After reading it and trying one of the recipes I had to own it. Cooking is not my favourite activity and i wanted a cookbook with recipes that are easy to make and don't have a lot of ingredients that I don't normally have on hand. This book definitely meets those requirements and then some. The author also gives you information on how many people it will feed, whether or not you can double the recipe and the best way to transport it to your occasion. Now I finally have a good source of recipes for dishes for future potlucks and other occasions. I highly recommend it to those you like to cook and those who don't.

Great Variety of Recipes
This book has some great recipes. They would be excellent for a potluck. It has a wide variety of recipes from appetizers, salads, soups, main courses, vegetable dishes and desserts. There is something for every occasion and every taste. The price was very reasonable. The only fault that I can find with it, is that it doesn't have a lot of pictures of the cooked food.
