Expensive but worth it
These inserts are necessary if you're missing some of your foot. They prevent you from tilting forward too far and banging your head into immovable objects. So in that respect they're worth it. Plus there are lots easier to trim and lighter weight than the steel ones.

Exactly what the injured foot needed
A family member suffered a foot injury on a Thursday evening walk. Friday morning it did not bear weight. Urgent care physician provided the dreaded injured-foot no-flex sandal. Ugh. Went home, did r.i.c.e. for the rest of the day, along with crutches and no sandal. Saturday morning, amazingly it was much improved. Bit the sandal felt like a clown-shoe accident waiting to happen. Remembered from prior family foot injuries that instead of the dreaded clown-shoe-feeling sandal, in certain cases one can use a carbon insole in a supportive shoe. Ordered it and felt very fortunate that it arrived in early the afternoon the next day. With the carbon insole placed in the supportive Gaviota sneaker, the family member was able to meet a friend at an evening stadium game, and had great (relative) comfort and support. A couple of days later, during the followup with a podiatrist who checked out this carbon insole, got the thumbs up.Very glad this was available and good!

Pain Relief
If you suffer from some form of big toe arthritis, this insert will reduce the overall daily pain. The insert prevents the big toe from bending, thereby reducing the pain.

Exactly as advertised but feels like a poor value.
A stiff strong piece of carbon fiber shaped line an insole. Size is as advertised.I looked it up and the material+packaging cost for one of these things isn't more than $20. I guess the machine they use to cut them (waterjet?) must be pretty expensive - I don't feel like I got a good deal.Nevertheless, the product is as promised and most seem cost around the same amount, so who knows. I'd like to give fewer stars but anyone buying these is gonna be shopping on price and they shouldn't hesitate to get this one if it's the right price for them.

It helps
My podiatrist-taking-multiple-visits-to-figure-out TBD foot pain felt better once I put these in the Hoka's he also recommended. It hasn't cured the problem, but does help. I probably have Morton's Neuroma, broken toe issues from years ago, and the beginnings of hammer toes for middle 2-3 toes. It doesn't help with arch support, which I think I also need, but hey one expensive item can't do it all, right?

Not Great.
The media could not be loaded. First, let me start by saying that my intend use of these is probably a little outside of what they are intended for. Since I broke my ankle I have been unable to purchase cycling shoes, due to a swollen foot on that side. I cycle nearly every day for exercise and needed something to stiffen up my Brooks Ghost 12's that I cycle in. Yesterday I tested these Carbon inserts on a 70 mile ride from Quincy Illinois to Warsaw Illinois and back. 8 miles into my ride my feet were killing me. They felt worse than they normally do without the inserts after a 30 mile ride. I almost took them out and tossed them into a field, but decided to push further and give them a chance, knowing that it might take time to get used to them. As you can see in the photo, these run extremely small. Those are Brooks size 10.5 men's inserts, and since the company says to order these a size down I order Men's 10. They are extremely narrow also, more like that of a woman's dress shoe. This makes them very uncomfortable. They have a very rough finish also. Having worked in the Carbon Fiber industry, making Super Bike Racing brackets, I can tell you that these won't last very long with heavy use of walking or cycling. I should be returning them but I think that I will give them a week before I do. I placed some Dr. Schols inserts on top of these today and I will give them another test.

no more expensive orthotics
My orthotics were worn out in my walking shoes and running shoes. These were recommended by my foot doctor. They worked great in my stabilizer shoes without orthotics.I combined these with Dr. Scholls orthotics in my walking shoes and that seems to also be working great. It looks like I won't need to keep paying for expensive orthotics anymore.
