IT'S NOT 3"X8"
You probably thought the price was too good to be true and you're right! It's a Spyderco stone but it's NOT 3" X 8". It's 1" X 5" and about 1/8" thick.

Small but it works!
This is a hand-held hone, or it can be placed on the pocket sheath that comes with it. I just used it to touch up a 4" blade, and it worked fine. It was easy to clean afterward. The only negative I can think of is the leather sheath. Instead of the thick leather that some of my old Spyderco products came with, this is very flimsy suede. Other than that, I think it is a great deal.

Go bigger than this one
This product is misrepresented completely.the stone I received was about as thick as a stick of gum youd get in a pack of baseball cards.Amazon did refund me tho and thats appreciated

this is best
I've had a lot of leash stones, but I could not even compare them to this Spiderco slate stone. This is brilliant. thes is best

Works well, Kind of Thin
Much thinner than I anticipated. However I keep it in my car and at work I can go out and hone my knife edge which it does a nice job of. Very fragile though. Comes in nice leather sheath. Just wish it was 1/4" thick instead of the 1/8" it is.

Great stones at a great price
I'm a woodworker, so I use these to sharpen tools (mainly chisels, planes, scrapers, and turning tools) I've used oil stones, japanese waterstones, DMT diamond stones and now these. I like these better than all of the others. Here's the pros:You can use them dry (but I would use them with just a little water and a drop of dishwashing soap). They are not very messy (compared to the others)They cut fast (japanese waterstones being the fastest)They are super hard and wear very slowly (I'd say better than the DMT diamond stones)They stay flat (only the DMT are as flat)Cons:They don't come in as fine a grit/micron.Only 2" wideI can get just as good an edge as the japanese waterstones, without the mess and all of the flattening.I use a grinder and worksharp to get a good initial edge (if there is damage or a new bevel needed) then use the stones (medium, fine, ultra-fine) to hone, then strop with simichrome on some leather/MDF. I get a great edge fast, so I can get back to work.
