I am not sure how to evaluate something that is just supposed to make another product keep working. How do you tell without waiting many years? I have VERY VERY SUPER hard well water with a high iron content. For five years or so after putting in a new softener I used Iron Out once a month, and THAT seemed to be working, but then my valve developed iron deposits and a crusty coating bad enough that it started screwing up the recycles, and I would get a salty off-taste in the morning after each run. I had to take the valve apart and rebuild it to get things working well again. And if the valve was in that bad a condition, I can only wonder about the resin bed.So now I am using the Iron Out twice as often, and I use ResCare every week in between. The ResCare is simple to use - just pour a cup into the brine reservoir (amount depending on tank size) sometime after the last recycle. Everything seems perfect again, for now, and I never notice any taste changes in the water. Other than that, I cannot tell you for a fact just what this stuff is doing. Research shows good reviews for the product, so it seems prudent to keep using it in conjunction with regular doses of the Iron Out.

I use Res Care to maintain the health and efficiency of my water softener. I would suggest to anyone with hard water that they buy a test kit. Testing is easy and takes about 30 seconds. Testing your water will confirm how well your softener is working and if the resin beads need cleaning. Whenever my wife mentions that our water feels like it is getting hard, I check the salt level in the tank and test for hardness. Most often the salt level is fine, so I run a recharge cycle after adding Res Care and then test. So far our water always tests back to near zero confirming the effectiveness of Res Care and that the softener is working correctly.

I have been using this stuff for about 10 years and my softener still seems to be going strong. Would recommend.

I always make sure I have this in my supply as the last thing I want to do is have icky water or have to replace my water softener!Such an easy system, look and see the feeder needs more in my brine tank, add more. That's all I have to do! I have blonde hair and wear a lot of white or bright colors, so I want it all kept fresh!

I use this in my water softener. (You have to get the starter kit that has the container that you put inside) I drilled holes in the front of my softener container where the softener salt is loaded. Hung the holder on the hook supplied and put the hose into the big black tube. And the plastic hose is what feeds the softener with the product. It works great to keep resin clean and your water softener functioning at maximum levels.
